Jan 2022 – #113 Antique American Clocks Seth Thomas “Carson”, 1884. An unusual Seth Thomas City Series clock with a “sheet brass case, nickeled body. Gold gilt ornaments at head and base. Bronze alligator panel.” Just over 14 inches in height with a beveled glass in the bezel and a porcelain dial with fancy hands. The dial is signed. The Seth Thomas movement is also unusual in that it strikes the half-hours on a cup bell and counts the hours on a cathedral gong. Both have a pleasant The clock is running and striking; no label. Nickel plated brass and bronze case with some wear to the high points on the columns and some of the flat areas. There is small dent on the cross piece below the dial. Original porcelain dial with a chip on the strike side winding arbor and hairline cracks. The dial grommet on the strike side is missing. Hands look to be original. The chime support has been moved. Ht 14.5″
