About the Seth Thomas “Harvard” Clock

The Seth Thomas “Harvard” clock, part of their esteemed College Series, was produced around 1900. This particular model showcases an oak cased design that stands at 23 inches high, featuring a clean and intact construction with minimal veneer chips. The original glass, pendulum, dial, hands, dial rings, door latch, and gong are all present. The clock’s 8-day movement operates smoothly, striking half hours and hours on a Cathedral gong. A significant portion of the label remains affixed to the back, bearing the Ly-Seth Thomas No. 2262 identifier (Fact 1).

Another variation of the “Harvard” College Series clock, also from around 1900, features a walnut case that has been cleaned. A third version of this clock, marketed as a kitchen clock, boasts an oak construction with an 8-day movement that strikes on a wire bell. The alarm sounds on a bell, and the dial is signed. This model lacks a label and has undergone cleaning without any finish or polish being applied (Fact 3).

Lastly, a Seth Thomas walnut “Harvard” College Series clock with an 8-day T&S movement, half strike, and wire gong is notable for its stenciled door adorned with a medallion and decorative elements. A partial label can be found inside the clock, and the clock is currently operational (Fact 4). It’s worth mentioning that this specific model has undergone refinishing, and new dial, hands, and tablet have

Seth Thomas Clock Co. kitchen clock, one of their College Series, this one is, “College Harvard – 1900”.

As far as I know there were six models in this series; this one being made of oak, with an 8 day, half hour strike movement, striking on a wire bell, and has a 6″ paper dial. This model has an alarm that sounds on a bell. The pendulums are all the same, dials are signed, hands are the same, and should have a label on the back. This clock has no label, has been cleaned and no finish or polish put back on, appears very dry. It has a good original glass, and everything else is original so you have that going for you when you begin restoration. Ly-Seth Thomas No. 2262.
