About the Seth Thomas “Adamantine” Clock

Introducing the Seth Thomas “Adamantine” mantel clock, a distinctive timepiece produced by the renowned Seth Thomas Clock Company in Thomaston, Connecticut around 1894. This model features a cello veneer case, available in either a light tan or walnut color, and an embossed brass dial. The Adamantine label is present on both the base and the clock itself. Standing at approximately 11 inches tall, this clock generally maintains good condition, with some oxidation on the cello veneer that requires polishing.

Another variant of the Adamantine was produced in 1896, characterized by an 8-day time and strike mechanism, black case with tan faux marble accents, and metal trimmings. This model is also known for its excellent condition, with a clean movement and an interesting case style featuring lions and metal pilasters. The clock stands at approximately 11.5 inches tall.

The Adamantine mantel clock was also produced in 1893, featuring an 8-day time and strike mechanism and a case of black and mottled tan. This model is clean and in good condition, with the original movement, dial, hands, and finish. The height of this model is approximately 10 inches.

A later variant from 1895 showcases double columns on either side of the dial and applied metal trim below the dial. This clock is in very good original condition, except for replaced hands. Standing at 11 inches tall, it is an attractive addition to any collection.

Lastly, a Seth Thomas “ADAMANTINE” mantel clock from 1896 features an embossed brass dial and stands at approximately 11 inches tall. This particular clock was found in storage and requires cleaning for both the movement and the adamantine
