  • Antique Seth Thomas “No. 8030” Model Clock

    Antique Seth Thomas

Catalog Description: Seth Thomas & Sons metal clock, No. 8030. Case is 14 1/2 inches high and most probably was repainted at some time in a dull bronze color. It has a French type movement, round, bell strike, outside count wheel, and signed by Seth Thomas. The porcelain dial is not the quality of the French dials as they were easily chipped around the winding arbors, although the chipping is very minor. Seth did use very heavy beveled glasses and fancy dial rings and bezels. The pendulum is correct and the clock is running strong. Clock’s complete and original. Ly-American No.866.

  • Antique Seth Thomas “Office Calendar No. 5” Model Clock

    Antique Seth Thomas

Catalog Description: C.1884, Seth Thomas “Office Calendar No. 5” in oak and in excellent original condition. There are some flakes on the dials which keep this clock out of the “outstanding” category, but they are original, and most folks would be happy with them. This is a large and heavy clock, so be sure you have a strong stud to hang it on. The dials are 14″. Note there is a glass covered crescent shaped opening at the bottom where the swinging pendulum and index can be seen. The door over this area is still intact and has never been broken off (a troublesome spot on this model). The original finish on this oak case has been carefully cleaned and waxed and is an attractive golden color. We have seen this model sell recently for $17,000, and our estimate is quite reasonable. For addition information on this model, see Tran Duy Ly’s yellow calendar book, page 250, item 606. Height 50 inches

  • Antique Seth Thomas “Office No. 2” Model Clock

    Antique Seth Thomas

Catalog Description: Seth Thomas hanging clock, “Office No. 2”, C. 1909. Seth used an old case style and gussied it up with some brass buttons. This oak case is polished veneer and shines like a new silver dollar. All the brass buttons, pendulum bob, and both bezels are polished and shining. If they had stopped right there all would have been well. Instead of painting the old pan someone installed a new painted metal dial on the old pan. It is fine and you can hardly tell it, but nonetheless its there. There are some extra holes around the old pan, so even it may not be original. Nice large time only movement, signed, and runs a week, although we didn’t oil it. It is a great looking clock; just don’t think about the two dials. Ly-Seth Thomas #513.

  • Antique Seth Thomas “Omaha” Model Clock

    Antique Seth Thomas

Catalog Description: Seth Thomas Clock Co. City Series clock called the, “Omaha”, ca 1886. This is another great clock in that series that always turns my head when I see one. Seth certainly knew how to make nice parlor clocks. From everything I can tell, it is all original, clean, running, and still has most of the gold stripes on the front of the 19 inch walnut case. 8 day, strikes a Cathedral bell. Unusual, but even the dial is old and not repainted. Black label in the base. One of 5 or 6 special pendulums Seth made for this group of clocks, this one is nickel with the initials “ST” on a brass emblem, right in the center. I will get real picky and tell you there are 3 small holes in the lower backboard. Probably Bubba got a new drill for Christmas and had to tryit out. There is no logical explanation for them. Ly-Seth Thomas No. 216.

  • Antique Seth Thomas “Panama” Model Clock

    Antique Seth Thomas

Catalog Description: Seth Thomas hanging clock, “Panama”, ca 1888. The factory stamped the back of this case with the date the clock was made, “8881A”, which was Seth’s secret code for January 1888. This fine clock was made of the best walnut, is 30″ high, and has been rubbed to a furniture shine, which I prefer. I know some of you do not; you want the old crusty look. The movement is 8 day, striking a Cathedral gong on the hours. This is a living room or den clock, not a basement or garage clock. The size is right to hang the clock almost anywhere, and the gong is very pleasing and doesn’t sound like a fire truck coming down the street. The dial rings and gong stand are nickel, the beat indicator and old bob are brass. There are a few unexplained nicks in the bob. Ly-Seth Thomas No. 475.
