Condition: Refinished oak in generally fair to good condition, the stripper loosened some of the veneer, now glued back down (these late models are not solid hardwood). Original paper dial has some staining. Hands and pendulum are original. Original tablet is very nice with some minor flaking and scratches. Movement is signed. This clock is the same as the Yale model, but with decorative tablet; an uncommon model. Height 23.5 inches [59.6 cm]

The silvered dial is pretty good with only a little tarnish and a circular scratch probably caused by the hour hand. The case is very clean, with original finish and the hands are original.     Catalog Description: Seth Thomas, “Chime Clock No. 214”, C. 1909-1923. The Sonora Chime clocks were only made during that time period. This clock has 8 bells and will play either Whittington or Westminster, striking on the quarter hours. Levers to change the strike or silence the strike are on the side. The hours will strike even though the quarter hour chimes are silenced. The 8 day movement is No. 89AG, and the Sonora chime movement is No. 104, both are clean and functioning properly. They call their case “Mahogany Fine-figured Pattern”. It is 14″ high and in generally fine condition except for one veneer patch on the right side, less than 1″ square. The door latch on the back although very serviceable is not original. The clock is fitted with a 6″ silver dial that is unusually good compared to most old silver dials. Over the dial is a beveled convex glass in a cast brass sash. Under the case are four round brass feet. Ly-Seth Thomas #713.

Late in their Sonora production, Seth Thomas changed over to rods to compete with less expensive imports. This clock still has the sturdy separate chime movement no. 119, winding at 3 o’clock, and with a long shaft to carry the torque back to the rear movement. Moreover this particular clock has a premium dial with raised bronze numerals (some discoloration). Case retains original finish; runs and chimes nicely. Height 14” Reserve $250

Nice silver dial with raised bronze numerals. 2 tone mahogany case is 10 inches high, has inlaid marquetry. Ly-Seth Thomas, page 220 for similar chime clocks.

Condition: Refinished rosewood veneered case in generally good condition with small chips on the back edge of the cornice, some lifting on the right OG molding of the base, and right side door stretcher. Original dial has been poorly repainted. Hands are original. Movement is signed. Mirror is period, but lacks the cardboard backing. Nice label inside case. Height 16 inches [40.64 cm]

    Catalog Description: Seth Thomas City Clock, “Cordova”, ca 1909. 10.75 inches high case of dark mahogany, never cleaned. Some minor wood damage, easily correctable. There are plated metal caps and bases on the half columns and 3 other applied metal pieces on the front. The movement is 8 day, half hour cathedral gong strike. Signed round movement, outside count, correct pendulum, running. 4 inches cream porcelain dial has a chip at the hand arbor, and numerous hairlines extending out from the hand arbor. Beveled glass in the beaded sash. This clock books for over $500 if in very good condition.
