About the Seth Thomas “Arcade No. 1” Clock
The Seth Thomas “Arcade No. 1” clock, manufactured by the renowned Seth Thomas Clock Company around 1913, presents a captivating blend of historical significance and aesthetic appeal. This 30-day gallery timepiece is characterized by its mahogany finished case, which has been preserved in excellent condition with its original finish intact. The dial, painted on an 18-inch surface, exhibits a nice original condition, albeit with minor scratches at the winding arbors and a few paint flakes.
Notably, this particular model was also used by the Pennsylvania Railroad, as evidenced by the “PRR” signature on its dial. The movement, an 86T double spring 30-day timepiece, powers the clock with precision and reliability. The original hands adorn the dial, while the wooden bezel glass adds a period touch to this vintage piece. This Seth Thomas “Arcade No. 1” clock stands at a height of 24 inches, making it an imposing addition to any collection or home decor.
In a later iteration, produced around 1928, the Seth Thomas “ARCADE No. 1” was equipped with a duplex spring movement and a seconds hand. The mahogany case of this version is in very clean condition, preserving its original finish. Although the seconds hand has been replaced, the hour and minute hands remain original. After professional cleaning, the clock runs smoothly, offering a testament to its enduring quality and craftsmanship. Standing at 18 inches, this variant of the “Arcade No. 1” also makes a striking statement in any setting.
