Jul 2020 – 119 Antique American Clocks Seth Thomas “Atlanta”, 1908. A city series clock, 19.5 inches tall in walnut veneer with rosewood veneer around the front, further highlighted with gilt designs. The door glass is old with a gold stencil, the dial in a brass relief bezel is old paper with the ST name. It shows a lot of wear. The ST 8-day, time-and-strike movement is running and striking the hours and half-hours on a cathedral gong. The pendulum bob is ST issue but shows lots of wear. is an ST label inside on the bottom, and the date is stamped on the back of the case. This is an attractive clock.

Condition: walnut veneered case in very good condition with original finish and gilt decoration. There is a small dent on the door, not too noticeable. Paper dial has been replaced. Deeper inspection is required to reveal that this Seth Thomas movement and pendulum set up from a Bangor or Buffalo (which use a different pendulum), and then the case back covered with red flocked material to disguise the change. Would he $400 if correct. Height 19.5 inches [49.5 cm]

Walnut case in nice condition in original finish with some slight damage on the molded edge corner just above the base. Original painted dial has minor wear and some paint loss. Hands and pendulum are original. Movement is signed. Remains of a label in the bottom of the case. Ht 19.5″

Condition: Don Vernon bought this from Don Myers a couple of years ago, and Meyer’s son, Marshall had really rubbed the case out nicely..it looks like it just came from the factory. Movement is clean; overall excellent original condition. For additional details on this model, see Tran Ly’s latest Seth Thomas book, 3rd Edition, Volume 1, page 186, fig 508. Printing on good paper label is now difficult to read (full label is there). You wont find a cleaner Atlanta! Ht 19.5″ [50cm]

Condition: Rosewood veneered case in very nice condition with a narrow piece of veneer missing on the very bottom edge of the base. The original finish has been cleaned and polished. Gold stenciling on the door is original. Original dial has darkened a little and is stained. Tablet is original. Overall very good to excellent original condition. For reference, see Tran Ly’s book on Seth Thomas, 3rd Edition, page 186, fig 508. 2004 price guide of $375. And a repair label on the rear from Hope, Arkansas. Ht 19.5″ [49.5 cm]
