About the Seth Thomas “Chime Beehive No. 266” Clock

The Seth Thomas “Chime Beehive No. 266,” manufactured around 1915, is a striking example of American clockmaking craftsmanship. This large and imposing timepiece features an intricately designed mahogany case adorned with front inlay, showcasing a distinctive crazed finish that can be restored through gentle rubbing.

The clock’s 8-inch silvered dial is in good condition, providing a classic backdrop for the hands that mark the passage of time. The clock chimes the quarter hours using eight patent Sonora Resonated bells, adding an audible charm to its functionality.

Although the two movements have not been serviced for some time, they are both operational. This clock hails from a Connecticut home and remains in very good original condition, making it a valuable addition to any collection. Notably, a similar clock can be found in Ly’s Seth Thomas book no. 2, page 209, further attesting to its authenticity and historical significance.
