About the Seth Thomas “Lily” Clock
The “Lily” shelf clock, manufactured by Seth Thomas Clock Co. around 1909, is a distinctive piece that showcases intricate craftsmanship and timeless elegance. This bronze-faced mantel clock features an ornate design on the side and back of its case, originally gilded but now displaying a worn patina, reminiscent of aged copper.
The clock’s case remains in good condition overall, preserving its antique charm. However, the dial has suffered some damage, with spider-like cracks radiating from the center hole. Despite this imperfection, the bevel glass in the bezel remains undamaged. The original hands continue to function, while the movement strikes the hours on a gong and the halves on a bell, adding to its traditional appeal. Standing at 11 inches tall, the “Lily” clock is an impressive addition to any collection, showcasing the artistry of Seth Thomas Clock Co. in the early 20th century.
