Again the rosewood veneer is very good with no chipping evident and all the buttons The glasses are old but both dial pans are twentieth century galvanized steel and aluminum replacements. upper dial has some black paint speckling that can be seen on a close look. The hands are correct. The 8-day time-only movement is signed, correct to this model, and running and the calendar is advancing. A black label on the door.

Jan 2021 – 142 Antique American Clocks Seth Thomas “Office Calendar No. 4”, ca. 1875. A 27.5-inch case veneered in rosewood with a bit of chipping on the upper bezel, as you might expect. The glasses are old, the dials are old repaints I think, with a bit of chipping and slight discoloration. The hands are correct. The 8-day time-only movement is signed and running, as clean as a whistle, and the calendar is advancing. A nice label on the back of the door. Horton’s sold one in 2019 for $375, and a nicer one in 2018 for $465.

Both dials were repainted by The Dial House. The hands are correct; the 8-day time-only movement is signed and running, and the Mix Brothers calendar is advancing. The calendar rollers are a bit dark; there is a good label on the back of the door. AAC sold an Office Calendar No. 4 last July for $453. You can bid on both Office Calendars No. 4, just state on your bid sheet that you only want one!

Condition: Rosewood veneered case in original finish with some veneer loss on the two wooden bezels, stained over. Original painted dials are very nice with a some wear to numeral 7 on the upper dial. Hands and hardware are original. Original date rollers have age darkened. Condition: both dials were repainted by the Dial House. The calendar roller covers were replaced long ago with individual stickers made with a lettering set (now darkening). Otherwise this clock is in very good original condition, with nice finish and veneer, +all buttons intact. Hands are original, but the tail of the calendar hand is missing. Good label inside door. Painted metal dials appear to be original with some yellowing on the edges and paint loss around mounting screws. The upper dial has been touched up a little around the winder arbor hole. Paper calendar rollers look old and may be original. Hands are original. Signed Seth Thomas movement has its stopworks intact. The upper glass is wavy, while the lower one is not. Spade hands and brass clad pendulum are all old and probably original.

The case has been carefully rubbed down. There is small loss of veneer on the upper portion of the top bezel ring. The painted metal dials appear are original with some fading and yellowing. There is a small amount of paint loss around mounting screws and some touch up paint on the upper dial. There is a largely complete paper label inside the door. The hands pendulum are original. The paper calendar rollers also look to be original. The signed Seth Thomas movement has its stopworks intact. The upper and lower glasses are both wavy.
