About the Seth Thomas “Omaha” Clock
Introducing the Seth Thomas “Omaha” City Series Mantel Clock, a notable addition to any collector’s inventory. This clock, produced around 1885, showcases an oak case in generally good original condition, with the top left return trim being a replacement that blends well. The tablet, initially thought to be incorrect due to its appearance, is found on the “Denver” model and was often offered as an option. The original finish and gilding are preserved, while the inside label has been slightly damaged. The dial and pendulum are both authentic, with the latter featuring a unique damascene pattern. Standing at 19 inches tall, this clock is a testament to Seth Thomas’ craftsmanship during the late 19th century.
Another version of the “Omaha” was produced in 1886, showcasing a refinished walnut case with lost original gilt designs. The dial has been repainted, and the hands replaced, yet it retains an original nickeled pendulum with a distinctive damascene pattern. This clock originally had a wire gong, indicated by holes, but now features a bell. Height is 19 inches.
Yet another iteration of the “Omaha” was an 8-day time/strike/alarm shelf clock from 1886. Known for its distinctive style, this mahogany case is in very nice condition with original finish, save for a missing part on the right side that requires restoration. The original dial and tablet are well-preserved, featuring decorative nickel-plated pendulum, bezel, alarm disc, and gong base.
The “Omaha” City Series clock, also from 1886, features a walnut case with gold stripes on the door

At first we thought the tablet was incorrect, however, the “Denver” model uses this tablet, and such items were often offered as options. These parts should be relatively easy to make. The original dial is in very nice condition with a little wear from age. Seth Thomas “Omaha”, ca 1886.
Another famous City Series clock, made in walnut with a fancy rail around the top, and a great glass showing mythical birds. This case features some gold stripes on the case that matches the gold glass. The case is 19 inches high, probably never cleaned. 8 day, hour strike, with an alarm system. The dial is not bad for Seth Thomas dials, black label, great nickel pendulum and cathedral bell stand. Ly-Seth Thomas No.216.

Seth Thomas City Series clock, “Omaha”, ca 1886.
Like most of theCity Series models this one has a distinctive style, railing around the top, very nice 19 inch walnut case with gold striping on the door. Original glassfeaturing birds and tall plants. There are remnants of the old black labelon the base. The dial has been papered instead of painted and the pendulum, although a Seth Thomas, is not correct for this model. 8 day movement isrunning and strikes hours on a cathedral bell. The factory stamp on the back, “B5881”, indicates the clock was made February 1885. Ly-Seth Thomas No. 216.

Seth Thomas Clock Co. City Series clock called the, “Omaha”, ca 1886.
This is another great clock in that series that always turns my head when I see one. Seth certainly knew how to make nice parlor clocks. From everything I can tell, it is all original, clean, running, and still has most of the gold stripes on the front of the 19 inch walnut case. 8 day, strikes a Cathedral bell. Unusual, but even the dial is old and not repainted. Black label in the base. One of 5 or 6 special pendulums Seth made for this group of clocks, this one is nickel with the initials “ST” on a brass emblem, right in the center. I will get real picky and tell you there are 3 small holes in the lower backboard. Probably Bubba got a new drill for Christmas and had to tryit out. There is no logical explanation for them. Seth Thomas city series clock, the “Omaha”, C. 1886.
Sought by collectors because of the simple yet dignified style, which includes the balcony around the top, gold striping on the case front, unusual glasses and the nice sounding Cathedral gongs that Seth Thomas was noted for. Some remnants of a black label remain on the base; glass is original, albeit slightly faded. The biggest knocks on this clock can be easily corrected. The dial is entitled to a nice paint job; the case needs some Nu-Life or other wood enricher. It looks a little dry. The pendulum is Seth Thomas, but the clock deserves a nickel bob that would go with the glass and dial rings. The movement is 8 day, strikes on the hours. On the back of the case is a factory stamp, “B5881”, which indicates the clock was made February 1885. Ly-Seth Thomas #216.

Seth Thomas parlor clock, “Omaha”, ca 1890
Seth Thomas parlor clock, “Omaha”, ca 1890 (stamped on the back of the case at the factory) one of the hundred or so City Series clocks made by Seth Thomas in the 1880’s and 1890’s. This is a walnut cased clock with a balcony rail all around, gold striping strategically placed around the case. It has a brass Seth Thomas pendulum, dial ring, gong stand, and pendulum hanger. This clock has the standard 8 day movement and strikes the Cathedral gong each hour. This clock has been in one family since 1890. We bought it from an 80 year old widow. Her mother started housekeeping with the clock around 1891. It is 100% original, retains the original finish, glass, and black label inside. Ly-Seth Thomas #216.
