About the Seth Thomas “Yacht Clock” Clock

Introducing the Seth Thomas “Yacht Clock,” a distinctive wall clock model produced by the renowned Seth Thomas Clock Company around 1913. This particular design features a 1-day Ship’s Bell mechanism, with an external bell mounted above the case on a brass support, making it a unique addition to any collection.

The Yacht Clock is characterized by its polished brass case, often displaying some signs of distress, as evidenced in examples with minor damage near hinges or dimpling on the back area of the bottom. The clock’s original silvered dial typically shows some wear, but remains fairly clean, while the hands remain authentic to the piece.

A notable feature of this model is the label found on the rear of the case, which provides valuable information about its origin and history. Some examples may also bear engravings on the bezel, such as commemorative inscriptions related to yacht races or presentations. The Yacht Clock stands at approximately 10.5 inches in height.

This model is particularly interesting due to its rarity, with the bell-top version being especially hard to find. Some examples may even bear engravings that reflect their connection to historical yacht clubs, adding an extra layer of intrigue to these timepieces. Overall, the Seth Thomas “Yacht Clock” serves as a testament to the company’s craftsmanship and the nautical theme that was popular during this era.
