About the Seth Thomas “Regulator No. 2 REPRO” Clock

Title: Seth Thomas Regulator No. 2 REPRO Clock Model – A Collector’s Guide

The Seth Thomas “Regulator No. 2 REPRO” is a replica of the original Regulator No. 2, first produced in the late 19th century and considered one of the most iconic clocks from the Seth Thomas Clock Company. This replica model, however, was manufactured during the latter half of the 20th century, making it a more recent addition to the antique clock market.

The Regulator No. 2 REPRO is typically constructed with mahogany case materials, accented by brass trim and finials. The design features an elongated rectangular shape with a prominent pendulum bob visible through a glass door in the dial, a characteristic element of regulator clocks.

What makes the Seth Thomas Regulator No. 2 REPRO collectible lies in its historical significance, faithful reproduction, and quality craftsmanship. As a replica of an influential antique model, it offers collectors an opportunity to own a piece that mirrors the design aesthetics and mechanical functionality of the original, but with the assurance of modern manufacturing processes.

Notable features include its robust brass movement, the clear dial displaying Roman numerals, and the distinctive pendulum swinging within the open case. The Regulator No. 2 REPRO also offers a chime option, adding an auditory element to this already visually striking timepiece.

For collectors of antique American clocks, the Seth Thomas Regulator No. 2 REPRO represents both a tribute to the past and a testament to the enduring appeal of classic clock design. Its production during the mid-to-late 20th century makes it an interesting study in historical reproduction, as well as a valuable addition to any collection
