There is some damage to celluloid veneer at the corners and along the back edges of the case. The silvered dial is in pretty good condition with some minor tarnish. The hands are original.     Catalog Description: Seth Thomas, Sonora 8 Bell, “Chime Clock No. 266”, offered by Seth Thomas from 1909 through 1923. 18 inch mahogany highest grade cabinet case, made of the highest grade material, has shaded marqueterie designs. The woodhas been rubbed out to give a suitable look for home or business. Convex beveled glass, brass sash, silvered dial. 8 day movement No. 89, Sonora Chime movement No. 104, plays Whittington and Westminster chimes on quarter hours on the 8 deep toned bells. The movements are clean and in good running order. Collectors have acquired the 8 bell clocks as fast as they become available. Rarely are they offered for sale to the general public. If you are unfamiliar with the Sonora Chime Clocks you should read Tom Chapell’s article in Ly-Seth Thomas, page 206. This particular model clock is pictured and described in the Sonora section.

    Catalog Description: Seth Thomas, Sonora “Chime Clock No. 266”, ca 1909-1923. This is the rarest of the Sonora Chime clocks, 8 bells, chimes on the 8 deep resonated bells, each quarter hour, and chimes the number of hours each hour. The chime movement is No. 104 and it plays Whittington or Westminster. The 8-day time movement is No. 89. Both movements are clean and running strong. This very large mahogany case is 18 inches high, their highest-grade cabinet case, with shaded marqueterie designs on the front. The case was rubbed to a furniture finish. It has a convexbeveled glass, brass sash, and silvered dial. Ly-Seth Thomas, page 206-222.

    Catalog Description: C.1913, Seth Thomas Clock Co., “Chime Clock No. 266 ,”8-day time/strike 8-bell sonora chime mantel clock in good condition, with restoration. This case has been refinished and the movements cleaned. There is some minor lifting of the mahogany veneer on the sides of the case, especially near the top with a couple of splits and repairs. The silvered dial has minor wear and tarnish, commensurate with age. The veneer on the front of the case is good and shows off the inlaid panel quite well. You may set the chime selector to alternate between Whittington and Westminster on this model. Not quite as nice cosmetically as the two 8-bell Sonoras we sold in Nov-’02, but still a great sounding clock. Height 18.5 inches
