Catalog Description: C.1870, Seth Thomas, “Tudor No. 3” mini 8-day cottage clock, nicely restored. We sold this timepiece a couple of years ago. It came from the Owen Burt collection. The dial has been repainted. The case back has 4 plugs where the original screws had pulled out. The front door has a small veneer repair to the rosewood, and the entire case has been refinished and rubbed out. Ready to enjoy.

Condition: Walnut veneered case in clean condition with some scratches and an old and possibly original finish. Wood bezel on the door is unusual for this model with indication that it was originally gilded. Dial pan was flaked and has been papered over, and also turned upside down and now with extra holes. Condition – Refinished rosewood case is in good condition with veneer loss near the top hinge, on the sides of the base and damage (missing wood) on the back edges of the top. Dial bezel is now gold painted (originally leaf over gesso). Original dial base now has a new paper dial, lifting and with bubbles. Minute hand is old, but a tad too short for the chapter ring. Movement is properly signed with Seth Thomas logo. Height 15.25 inches

It looks like someone has shellacked the mahogany veneered case in the distant past and it needs to be rubbed down. There is a little roughness on the base and a little chip along the back edge. The original dial has a little paint loss around the mounting screws. The door glass is original. The hands are improper (replacements are available from Timesavers). The large 8-day movement with Geneva stops is properly signed. Retains a very good label. A pleasant model that is hard to find in good condition: this has potential. Height 15.25” $175-$275
