    Bruce Baziluk restored this clock in a Syrian Bronze color and the base to the original black. The movement is 8 day, round with and outside count wheel just like the French, and strikes a standing gong on the half hours and hours. One-piece porcelain dial and the French sash and beveled glass, are perfect, as is the entire clock. The case is 21 inches high, 21 inches wide. This is a very hard to find model and one of four or five large statue clocks that the collectors always ask about. Ly-Seth Thomas No. 894.

    The metal castings were done by a New York company and the movements made in Connecticut. It is generally said that the movements were the best made in Conn. during the 1800Õs but not as good as the French movements they copied. The castings on this clock are from an alloy, not bronze, and then covered with a gilt. This particular clock has been completely restored by Bruce Baziluk in a Syrian Bronze color. The 8 day movement has an outside count wheel and strikes a standing gong. The case is 21″ high and 21″ wide. This is an uncommon and rare model, and is not shown in LyÕs books with the other Seth Thomas and Sons clocks.

    I have had a half dozen over the years; this may be the best I have seen. It is unrestored and all original. Full paper label, “Seth Thomas, Plymouth Hollow, Conn”, which dates it pre 1865. The painted zinc dial, both glasses, and the mahogany veneer case, are all original. Some veneer repairs, but overall a nice case. Four turned columns. The only thing not original are the two wafer weights. I know Seth Thomas made quite a few of this model, yet I have not seen it pictured in their trade catalogs.

    Condition: this clock was a last minute addition from a house in Reading, Mass, and is original and complete in every way; only small losses to finish here and there. For reference, see Tran Ly’s part 2 of his 3rd and latest edition of Seth Thomas Clocks and Movements, page 1050. Note the pattern changed in 1874, with the addition of the deer with antlers on the center of the base. Seth Thomas offered the clock in 3 finishes, French Bronze, Verde Antique, or Light Verde, of which this one is the first. Note the bow and arrow are shipped loose and laid in her hands, so be careful NOT to lose these, the original ones. Height 20 inches

    Condition: the dial has been papered over, otherwise this clock is in excellent original condition, with super original finish on the case, original hands, pendulum and case hardware. It really looks as nice as the foto, including the fancy carved sides. The last of this model we sold was lot 520, in the May 2004 auction, and its hammer price was $2500.     There are some minor nicks and scrapes to the case and top returns have separated a little in time. However, it retains original dial in SUPER condition, original hands, pend and case hardware as well. The oak is an attractive light caramel color and the original finish is nice with a few blemishes. This model has fancy embossed/carved panels on the sides. Movement is clean, complete and sound. For details on this clock see Tran Duy Ly’s book on Seth Thomas, 1996, page 278. Sure to please any Seth Thomas collector. Height 15 inches

    Condition: This clock is in very good original condition, with only minor scrapes and minor loss of nails on the front. This clock could remind the hotel clerk for up to 84 rooms. There are a couple of dozen brass tokens with the room number stamped in. The 12 hour day is marked every fifteen minutes in the lower section. The clerk puts the room token on the desired time for that room. When that time arrives he can give the tokes to a bell man for wake up calls. In the foto, room 59 token is on 7:30 minder post. This clock allegedly came from NH Lancaster House, and a newspaper clipping supporting that idea is included with the clock. Small crack in glass in lower section. Height 37 inches

    A second version of the “Helmsman,” also from approximately 1936, features a mahogany cabinet and brass base. The clock measures 10.5 inches wide and 9 inches high. It is fitted with an 8-day fine lever movement that strikes the ship’s bell on the half hours. A 4-inch silver dial, marked for both 12 and 24 hours, adorns this model.

    Lastly, a combination clock and tide indicator, the Seth Thomas/General Time brass “Helmsman,” was also produced during the late 20th century. This set includes an 8-day Ship’s Strike marine clock and a “Tide Guard” battery-powered tide indicator. The lacquered brass cases, glasses, and metallic dials are all in very good condition.     Condition: generally fair to good original condition; there are two chips of burled veneer missing from the bottom of the left column, another chip along the left back edge of the base, top has been repaired. Most of the original finish remains, but there are areas where it got damp and is missing and the wood has just wax on it. The dial has a good sized flake below 6, and the numerals are quite weak from a finger setting the hands. There is a fair to good label inside, with losses from throwing the key into the case. Original pendulum has part of the damascene pattern polished off. Movement dirty. Height 22.5 inches [57cm]

    This walnut clock is strikes the quarters on two cup bells and strikes the hours on a cathedral gong with large nickel base. The case is in pretty nice condition with original finish, which has gotten wet in a couple of spots and could stand restoration (its not too bad, but does need attention). There is a veneer chip repair on the base, a repair on the left base corner and a repair on the right column, and some loose bits of veneer along the base. The door glass and damascene pendulum are original. The painted dial has had some touch up and then be sprayed with clear varnish to stabilize it. This large 3-train movement was also used in the “Atlas” and the “Marcy”. There is a dark but readable label inside the case. Despite cosmetic items, this uncommon clock will restore nicely. Height 22.5 inches

    Condition: Oak case in good as found condition with original finish, one carved bit on the top right trim is absent (about 1/2″). Original painted dial has loss around the center winding arbor, some darkening from oil. Hands and tablet are original. Original nickel /damascene pendulum has some loss of nickel. Someone in the past tried to fix a loose upper right molding that will need to be addressed at it is misaligned. Fair label inside bottom of case, worn from throwing the key inside.     This unusual clock with its twin, “Atlas”, uses a movement that strikes quarter hours on two cup bells (Bim Bam), and hours on a Cathedral Gong.22.5 inches high case is made of walnut, some burl used, full turned columns with deep carving-etchings, same on the base and top. Carvings also used on the top. The clock has been used, not placed on the living room mantle just for show. It has not been abused but does have nicks and slivers on the base and top. You only see them on close inspection. There are many good points; great original glass, very nice nickel bob and gong stand, original dial-not repainted, most of the black label below the pendulum, and the 8 day spring movement is running and striking. Factor stamp on the back of the case, “4881K”, meaning it was made November 1884. Ly-Seth Thomas No. 1006.

    The walnut case, with its use of burl, is in excellent condition with it original finish intact. The current dial is a paper dial which shows some discoloration. A painted dial would have been expected. The hands are original. The movement is signed. The door glass and stenciled design are original. The pendulum bob is beautifully damascened The case is dated February, 1885 (5881B): Overall one of the nicest Hecla models we have seen.

    The walnut case retains some of its original finish which has darkened with age. The painted dial has been professionally refinished The ST hands are later replacements. The movement is signed. The door glass and its silver design are original. Original nickel and damascened pendulum bob. The case is dated April 1885 (5881D) .

    Mahogany case under a dark heavy finish has a couple dings on the base, the top front molding and small veneer loss on the front bottom edge on the base. Dial has been restored. Minute hand may be a proper style replacement. Original pendulum and tablet.

    refinished oak in nice condition with remains of the original finish in the corners, the turned columns and incised and carved elements. A small section of the top right carving is missing. Someone tried to reattach the top front to the side moldings and didn’t align it very well, so it will need attention. Original painted dial is stained with what appears to be oil stains at the middle winding arbor. Hands are original. Original glass and pendulum. Very dark label inside bottom of the case. Ht 22.5″

    Condition: this case has been refinished, and the dial repainted by the Dial House; minor dings in top right quarter molding.     Condition: Except for replaced hands and some wear to the original dial, this clock is in very good original condition, with great finish, orig tablet and label (25% loss) in the bottom of the case.     The walnut case with burl accents is one of the nicest Hecla cases we have seen, The original finish is in excellent condition. The painted dial was been professionally restored by The Dial House in 2004. The hands are original. The movement is signed. The door glass with stencilled design is original.     The case retains a nice finish, likely original. There are no visible defects on the case. The original pained dial has had substantial restoration but needs professional restoration.     Condition: This has a fancy walnut case in fine condition with original finish. It also has great original nickel plated gong base and nickel plated damascene pendulum. It also has the original black label inside in the bottom of the case in good condition(with some loss). Dial professionally repainted.     It is almost identical to both of these but more than likely was a number in between. There are no pictures available of over half of the 40 different model Hall Clocks they made. Then there were variations of some of the 40. The mahogany case is between 97 and 98″ high, about 23″ wide. A couple of the panels are slightly different and the finials are a little different. The movement is powered by three brass weights, chimes Westminster on four cup bells and strikes the hours on a large Cathedral Bell (gong). The dial is made of brass, silvered. Center section is polished, outer section dead finish, gilt ornamental lines. Dial is 15 inches high and 11-1/2″ wide, has a lithographed moon disc. We rarely see the Seth Thomas Hall Clocks come onthe market. Generally they are traded privately. As you may know, Seth Thomaswas the first company to produce a complete Hall Clock made in America.     Condition: the oak case has been overcoated with shellac for some time, and that has turned dark reddish-brown, so that in the foto it looks more like mahogany. All of the small carved trimmings on the case are intact. Minor nicks and scrapes. The dial has some scratches and minor oxidation. With original weights, pendulum, bells, glass and so on; beveled glass is good in both top door and trunk door. For reference, see Ly’s 2004 Seth Thomas book, page 414. Ly’s current value is 16,000 and we have seen these bring over 10,000 at auction. Height 98 inches
