About the Seth Thomas “Empire No. 1000” Clock

The Seth Thomas “Empire No. 1000” clock, crafted in 1909, offers a unique blend of intricate design and historical significance for collectors. This crystal regulator boasts a striking porcelain dial adorned with a painted garland of flowers around the numerals, as well as a minute ring outside the hour ring. The clock features a polished gold bezel that adds a touch of elegance, although the gold on the body of the case appears slightly dull and worn.

The clock’s base is made from green onyx, with the top featuring an onyx piece of another color. Four heavy beveled glasses, two of which have tiny corner chips, complete the design. The clock also includes a 2 vial imitation mercury pendulum and a bright gold hanging gong. The 8-day movement strikes the gong on the half hours and is currently in working condition.

While some parts may require restoration, this Seth Thomas “Empire No. 1000” presents an exciting opportunity for collectors. Whether one chooses to restore the clock and display it, sell individual components, or simply appreciate its historical value, this piece offers a captivating glimpse into the craftsmanship of a bygone era.

This clock presents a challenge to some aspiring collector. The green onyx base is intact, 4 beveled glasses (2 tiny corner chips), beautiful porcelain dial with a garland of flowers around the inside of the numerals, minute ring outside the hour ring. Very nice 2 vial imitation mercury pendulum and a bright gold hanging gong. 8 day movement is running, strikes half hours. I could have sold the pendulum for 50 dollars, movement-dial for 100 dollars+, 4 beveled glasses for 100 dollars, gong for 25 dollars, empty case for 25-50 dollars, and netted about 300 dollars+. This is an opportunity for someone to restore the clock, sit it on a high shelf so you can’t see the top, or sell all the parts.
