About the Seth Thomas “Litchfield” Clock

The Litchfield clock, manufactured by the renowned Seth Thomas Clock Company around 1908, is a striking example of their craftsmanship during this era. This timepiece features a 30-day double spring mechanism, housed within a mahogany-finished case that stands an impressive 31 inches tall.

The clock’s condition is excellent, with a pleasing patina on the original finish. The tablets and dial show good preservation, albeit with minor imperfections such as some flaking near the 12 o’clock position and scratches around 6 and 7. Notably, the only modification made to this clock is a replacement pendulum; however, it is suggested that enthusiasts may wish to consider swapping this for an original pendulum to restore authenticity.

For those interested in learning more about this model, Tran Ly’s book on Seth Thomas clocks, specifically the 3rd Edition, Volume 1, offers detailed insights on page 325. This clock serves as a testament to the enduring quality and timeless design that has made Seth Thomas one of the most respected names in antique clock collecting.
