About the Seth Thomas “No. 8000 Statue” Clock

The Seth Thomas & Sons “No. 8000 Statue” clock, produced approximately in 1876, stands as one of the largest statue clocks, measuring 27 inches high and 20 inches wide. This impressive piece showcases a restored finish in Syrian Bronze, a meticulous process that involved removing the original finish and applying a new one.

The clock’s movement, a round French design, is housed outside the count wheel and bell, a characteristic often found in earlier Seth Thomas & Sons clocks. The 8-day movement has been expertly serviced, ensuring its smooth operation. The clock strikes the half hours on its bell.

The dial of this piece is porcelain, displaying a hairline finish. The glass surrounding the dial is beveled and shows some chips. Should you desire a replacement, I can provide you with the contact details for a craftsman who specializes in creating such pieces. This clock’s listing can also be found in Ly-American, Volume 2, No.844.
