About the Seth Thomas “Office Calendar No. 10” Clock
Introducing the Seth Thomas “Office Calendar No. 10” wall clock, a noteworthy timepiece from the late 19th century. The earliest version, manufactured around 1875, features an oak case that has been tastefully refinished, with original dials and hands in excellent condition. The case back retains its original instruction label, while the roller covers may have been renewed. The weight remains securely within the right channel, requiring careful handling when moving the clock.
Another variant, produced approximately in 1886, showcases a walnut case that has undergone an attractive restoration, preserving its originality and exceptional condition. This model was one of Seth Thomas’s most versatile designs, serving as both a timepiece and a double-time clock for nearly two decades. The early version boasts a calendar dial in the base and a visible pendulum behind a carved grill between the dials. The professionally repainted dials are of high quality, with the movement being driven by a weight descending within the right side of the case.
Additional versions include a walnut Seth Thomas Office Calendar No. 10 Clock, featuring painted metal dials, nickel trim, and a damascened pendulum bob. This earlier version showcases an opening between the time and calendar dials to reveal the pendulum bob. The oak case is in good condition, with minor paint losses, scuffs, and some wear on finials and glass. Despite these minor imperfections, this clock remains a fine example of Seth Thomas craftsmanship, ready for enjoyment.
