About the Seth Thomas “Whitby” Clock
Introducing the Seth Thomas “Whitby” mantel clock, a captivating timepiece from the early 20th century, circa 1908-1909. This model showcases an intricate inlay design that adds a touch of elegance to any decor.
The clocks are found in very good condition, with original finishes crazed and darkened due to their attic origin in Southern Massachusetts. The movements are complete and functioning, though they would benefit from cleaning. Notably, the base board holding the gong has cracked but is repairable. Each clock retains its original hands, pendulum, gong, and hardware throughout, with perfect dials.
A unique characteristic of these clocks is their refinished mahogany case, which adds a rich warmth to the design. The porcelain dial is pristine, and the door glass remains original, preserving the authenticity of this timepiece. While the inlay may not be as visible due to the old finish, it still adds a distinct charm to the overall appearance.
Standing at 12 inches tall, these Seth Thomas “Whitby” clocks are a testament to craftsmanship and timeless design, making them an appealing addition to any collector’s mantel.
