  • Antique Seth Thomas “Regulator No. 1 Extra” Model Clock

    Antique Seth Thomas

Catalog Description: Seth Thomas “Regulator No. 1 Extra”, ca 1860. The round movement was either purchased from the creditors of Silas B. Terry in 1859, or made from the patterns purchased at the same time. The round 8 day, time only movements were used a short time before they went to the rectangle movements. The old zinc dial pan is original and has been professionally repainted. The gold around the glass and the gold painted wood stick, brass bob, and glasses, are also original. The sliding partition where a label should be has been added. It looks fine, hides the descending weight, but nonetheless there is no label. Rosewood veneer case like 99% of the octagon bezel clocks has had some minor repairs and I notice one small chigger bite that should be stained or a tiny piece of veneer put on. The base is a remake, well done, veneered to match. The catalogs say this model clock should be 44 inch. I have probably had 20 over the years, none were over 41.5 inch, same as this one. Large flat iron weight descends behind the partition Clock is running. Ly-Seth Thomas, page 108-109.

  • Antique Seth Thomas “Regulator No. 18” Model Clock

    Antique Seth Thomas

Catalog Description: Seth Thomas “Regulator No. 18″, C. 1909. 8 day weight driven timepiece, and seconds pendulum bob. This is a nice example of the No. 18 in a 54″ mahogany veneer case. There are the usual bumps and bruises on the bezel and some case edges but no glaring places showing veneer damage, etc. The extra things are all original, like the brass damascened pendulum bob, wood stick, beat scale, remnants of an old black label inside, hands, and the old 14” dial that still has the original paint and is very good. Some small chips around the screw heads. No extra holes anywhere. The movement has polished plates and is secured to an iron bracket, Graham dead beat escapement, maintaining power. This is a good straight original No. 18 wall clock. Selling at eastern auctions and clock shows $4500 and more, and not nearly as nice as this one. Ly-Seth Thomas, page 127.

  • Antique Seth Thomas “Regulator No. 2” Model Clock

    Antique Seth Thomas

Catalog Description: C.1879, Seth Thomas Clock Co., “Regulator No. 2″, 8-day rosewood wall timepiece. Veneer wise the case is in very good condition. There is minor veneer damage on the hinge side of the bezel and some veneer loss on the bottom bracket (not easily seen). The original tablet has some loss to the gold leaf design in the center, but is overall very good. The clock has an extra nice touch in that the area the where the dial mounts has been artificially grained (original). The lower key lock door retains original gold leafed border in excellent order The original dial has some paint flaking, and bears the name of jeweler from West Virginia (R. H. Nefflen) . The seconds hand is included, but we could not put it on, as the suspension spring has been lengthened just enough that the cross bar interferes with the second hand (this is repairable). Despite some minor items that need attention, this clock is in very good original condition. Height 34” $2,000-$2,500

  • Antique Seth Thomas “Regulator No. 2” Model Clock

    Antique Seth Thomas

Catalog Description: C.1947 (dated), Seth Thomas, Regulator No. 2 in oak and in very good original condition. This clock is among the last of the No.2s produced (1950 was the last year), and is complete with original dated label on the rear, showing manufacture by ST division of General Time Corp. Note production shortcuts at this time have the bezel made in 4 sections instead of 8. This one warped a bit and has been re-glued and screwed from the rear to stabilize it (decent job). The quarter sawn oak is especially attractive, and the movement has been re-cabled and is running well. Minor wear to numerals on original dial. Note, post war models like this have a spring/bullet latch for the door in lieu of a key lock. Height 35 1/2″
