Catalog Description: Seth Thomas City Series clock, the “Athens”, ca 1886. The 17 inches high walnut case doesn’t look like it has ever been touched, it is very dark, has crazed paint, and that presents another challenge for a refinisher. It would be a might fine case if cleaned because the nickel accessories, and probably the best, original dial, I have ever seen on a City Series clock would set this clock off perfectly. Usually the dials have been repainted by now, or should be. The Seth Thomas “Star” pendulum, on this clock, only came with the No.3 Fashion, the Nashville, and New Orleans. This is their one day model made back in the days when there was nothing else to do after dark but wind your clocks. Ly-Seth Thomas #166.

There is some minor paint loss where the segments that makeup the head have telescoped through the finish. Silvered dial is very clean and the hands are original. Catalog Description: Seth Thomas miniature shelf clock, “Cabinet”, ca 1863. This is only one model of 19 different case styles of miniature shelf clocks Seth made between 1852 and 1898. To acquaint yourself with these very collectable little clocks you should read the article by Owen H. Burt titled, “Seth Thomas 9 inches Cottage Clocks”. This clock is kinda rare because it has an 8 day movement with an alarm. There is a full paper label, correct brass bob, hands, and original dial with some wear. Catalog Description: C.1921, Seth Thomas, CELTIC, brass cased, ships bell strike, 7 jewel escapement, mantel clock. Condition: the red brass case has been polished to a high sheen. The movement ticks and strikes, but could stand cleaning. The engraved and silvered dial has raised bronze numerals, and the fellow who imprinted the ST name must have had a hard week end, as it is slightly crooked. Seth Thomas was trying to compete with Chelsea in offering this model, and at $85 in 1921, it was especially expensive. Catalog Description: C.1915, Seth Thomas, Chime Beehive Clock No. 61, 5-bell chiming Westminster melody on 4 patent Sonora Resonated bells, and striking the hours on a 5th. Note this is a 3 piece set, with matching mahogany candle stands. In the period 1909-1915 Seth Thomas produced several models of candle stands, and although we cannot find this exact design pictured, they are the same mahogany finish as the clock and with the same string inlay around the base and uprights. Condition – Refinished mahogany case was sanded and the corners are a bit rounded (still photogenic as you see). Selector on side for choosing Westminster on 4 bells or Whittington on 8 bells. Dial is signed “Hardy and Hayes Co., Pittsburgh”. Height 11 inches
