  • Antique Seth Thomas “Regulator No. 2” Model Clock

    Antique Seth Thomas

Catalog Description: Seth Thomas Clock Co. “Regulator No. 2” early model, ca between 1878-1880. Rosewood veneered case is 34 inches long, has only a moderate number of bruises, no chips to speak of. Both doors have hook latches. Someone tried to install a knob on the lower door and left a hole to be filled. Old glass lost some of backing, new black paint has been put on where feasible, overall a good looking early glass. It is shown in Ly-Seth Thomas on an early No. 1 Regulator, clock No. 359. The old dial has been repainted very professionally. One really nice feature is the full label on the original sliding partition. That is a real plus. The flat iron weight is also original for this model. Now what it all boils down to is, this is a great early regulator with only one fault, the small hole in the lower door, and it should be an easy fix. In case you wondered why I said Ca 1878-1880, this base was only in use until 1880, this glass was only used between 1878 and 1880, there were no seconds bit on this model until 1879.

  • Antique Seth Thomas “Regulator No. 5” Model Clock

    Antique Seth Thomas

Catalog Description: Seth Thomas “Regulator No. 5″, a style you almost never see. This one is contemporary, made by an excellent cabinetmaker and generally copied in exact dimensions of the Seth Thomas original. This beautifully carved walnut case is 48″ high, burl wood accents used just like the old ones. There is a wood bezel surrounding the 7″ enameled dial, 5 hand-turned finials, and side glasses like the Vienna clocks. The wood case overall is well crafted with remarkable detail, and retains its beautiful, original finish. The 8 day, weight driven movement is of high quality, steel pinions, Graham dead beat escapement. The brass gears and plates, appear heavier, cut thicker, and the gear pinions are larger than in more common movements. Appears to be well built. The brass pendulum, hardened with cast iron is 4.5″ in diameter, the brass weight with 5 pounds of lead encased, is 6” in length. The dial, hands, crank key, and all hardware are all original. We ran the clock in our home for a time and must say it performs well and gives a great appearance. The original ST #5 is now selling over $10,000.
