  • Antique Seth Thomas “Pittsburgh VP” Model Clock

    Antique Seth Thomas

Catalog Description: C.1880, Seth Thomas Clock, Co, Thomaston, Conn, “PITTSBURGH, V.P.” in walnut, 8-day time and strike on cathedral gong. Condition: Overall very good original condition. The biggest item that keeps it from being excellent is that something fell against the front molding and gouged it, and it was later filled with something that shrank, and your finger feels the cavity before your eye does. There are also other minor nick and scrapes commensurate with the age of the clock. This fancy cut glass/mirror pendulum was used on both the Pittsburgh and the St. Paul, and there should be one more little loop above the leafy decoration. (Shows clearly in the foto of the St. Paul). Original dial has had some chips in-painted, and the ST logo is from a rub-on set. Otherwise the clock is a very good example of this model with nice original finish. Ht 23″ [58.5cm]

  • Antique Seth Thomas “Queen Anne” Model Clock

    Antique Seth Thomas

Catalog Description: C.1884, Seth Thomas Clock Co., “Queen Anne”, 8-day wall timepiece, as-found. The oak case is extremely nice condition with original finish. The problems arise when you remove the dial to find this clock originally had a time and strike movement, and the vacant holes for the movement blocks and the gong support are clearly evident. It now has an appropriate timepiece movement and dial which could be left as is (the model was also offered in time only), or if you have the right movement, the clock could be properly restored. The only other alternative would be to re-veneer the backboard of the case. In original condition, this model can bring 900 dollars. Height 36 inches

  • Antique Seth Thomas “Rebecca at the Well” Model Clock

    Antique Seth Thomas

Catalog Description: “Seth Thomas Sons & Co. N.Y.”, on the dial, Thomaston, CT. on the movement. This is “Rebecca at the Well”; their pattern No. 8002, complete and original excepting one frond of the palm tree is missing. Ca 1876. Notice that this clock is painted every inch with extraordinary colors of their time on the garments and other features. If I did not know better I would say it came from the factory painted. A true artist did the work. It is so unusual you will want to keep it like it is. 8 day round, French style movement is properly signed; it has an outside count, bell strike and is running. Metal case is 16 inches high. Some minor paint loss, chip on the heavy beveled glass, but the porcelain dial is almost perfect. Ly-American, Volume 2, #843. With this outstanding paint job the clock would have brought close to 1000 dollars if everything were nice. As is, my estimate is .
