    Catalog Description: C.1936, Seth Thomas Clock Co., “Merrimac” 30-hour time/strike ship’s bell clock. This has a nice clean case with no dings or dents. The silvered dial has a little tarnish and minor scratches, and with an original decal from John Bliss and Co., Nautical Instruments, New York City. Someone has tried to touch up the numbers 4, 8, 9 and 10 with black paint. The hands are original; runs and strikes. Height 7″ $175-$275

    Catalog Description: C.1930, Seth Thomas, No. 8 Mayflower, Ships bell mantel clock, ships wheel bezel, mounted to original mahogany block with brass base. Condition: Jeweled movement is still ticking and strike side gives the proper number of “bells”, but is dry and needs oiling. Minor loss of lacquer on bezel from opening to wind the clock, and the reflector ring has some discoloration from fingers going round to set the hands. Otherwise very good original condition. Height 8.5 inches

    Catalog Description: C.1941, Seth Thomas, “Ship’s Bell No. 4”, in good original condition. The model designation is stamped into the rear cover; this designation was introduced in 1941. The jeweled lever movement is in running order and striking properly, but would benefit from service. The case is a heavy cast brass model. Some one from Natick, Mass, wrote his name (Bragdon) on the rear with a vibro tool. With original dial and hands. Outer dia = 8.75 inches

This clock is in generally good condition with the case overpainted with gold paint; it will need stripping and polishing of the brass case. The silvered dial has turned rather dark. The hands are original. Retains about third label on rear, plus newsprint and green paint from a former strip job. These are worth $350 when original and clean. Has potential. Ticks and strikes. Height 10.5 inches

This small clock meant for a ladies dressing table or for the nightstand was catalog number 3366, and sold new for $39. That same amount would have bought you a Seth Thomas No. 2, or 6 assorted oak gingerbread clocks. It is certainly true that good things come in small packages. Clean and running with key.
