  • Antique Seth Thomas “Seattle City Series” Model Clock

    Antique Seth Thomas

Catalog Description: Seth Thomas Clock Co. another rare City Series, “Seattle”, ca 1881. Big 8 day movement striking a coil gong, alarms on a brass bell, runs great. Fancy brass Seth Thomas pendulum, lions head. Original Seth Thomas glass, paper dial, silver dial ring and alarm set knob. The dial ring is original to this clock but has been abused, extra holes drilled rather than fill the original holes, etc. The factory stamp on the back indicates the clock was made June 1891. I collected City Series for years and had over 90 different models at one time, but never had the Seattle. It is not in the Ly-Seth Thomas book, but can be found in other catalogs.

  • Antique Seth Thomas “Seattle” Model Clock

    Antique Seth Thomas

Catalog Description: Seth Thomas “Seattle”, Ca 1890, on of the “City Series” made by Seth Thomas over a period of 30 years. There is a factory date stamp on the back “1891”. ST made well over 100 different City Series models and I tried to get one of each. I gave up about 10 years ago and sold them all. This model is one I had trouble finding at that time. They aren’t many out there. This is a walnut case, about 22″ high, never cleaned, and retains the original finish, glass, dial, label, and pendulum. The nickel bob matches the nickel leader, nickel bezel and dial ring. It is 8 day, strikes a coil gong, and is running up a storm. This is about as good as it gets for originality.

  • Antique Seth Thomas “Santa Fe” Model Clock

    Antique Seth Thomas

Catalog Description: Seth Thomas City Series, another one named for a western city, “Santa Fe”, C. 1886. This particular clock was made February 1889, according to the factory stamp. The walnut case make to look like it was constructed of logs, rough lumber, cactus, and leaves of brass. Many nails of brass, more for looks than holding anything together. The case is 22.5″ high, has been refinished, I can’t imagine that job. Excellent original glass, identical to the clock referenced below; full black label inside, old Seth Thomas pendulum. New paper dial on the old pan. 8 day strike and alarm. Strikes on the cathedral gong, alarms on a bell behind the gong stand. This has always been a tough one for the collectors to find. I may have had 5-6 over the years and no two were exactly alike. Ly-Seth Thomas #222.
