  • Antique Seth Thomas “Regulator No. 2” Model Clock

    Antique Seth Thomas

Catalog Description: C.1899 (dated), Seth Thomas, “Regulator No. 2″ in walnut and in good original condition. The only item that keeps this clock from being excellent is a small veneer repair on the bow-tie, under the numeral 5. The finish of the case has some crazing and alligator surface but is overall very good. Original weight and pendulum intact as well, and with original label in case bottom (with some losses). Also note hand tension spring is weak and minute hand slips in some positions (runs fine). Also with stenciled production date on rear, March 1899. Height 36”

  • Antique Seth Thomas “Regulator No. 2” Model Clock

    Antique Seth Thomas

Catalog Description: C.1895, Seth Thomas, Regulator No. 2, single weight, 8-day timepiece in oak. Condition: this clock has been in storage for some time, and the bob has discolored in a blotchy way (will buff out OK); original weight is oxidized and will polish up Ok as well. The original dial is remarkable for a Seth Thomas, just some flaking inside the seconds circle. Case finish is original and good, two small holes in the lower edge of the door belie a missing number or name plaque, and the finish is slightly lighter in that area. Overall a good example of this model. See also lot 472. Height 36 inches

  • Antique Seth Thomas “Regulator No. 2” Model Clock

    Antique Seth Thomas

Catalog Description: C.1895, Seth Thomas, “Regulator No. 2′ in oak, and in very good original condition. This clock is certainly close in condition to the previous lot, the dial with some flakes and the finish with some dirt and fly specs. Still, this clock retains the large no. 77B move-ment with retained filister screws. Old oxidized finish on brass bob and weight and will fill the bill for those that prefer the “Antique’ look. Note suspension spring is tweaked to one side and will need replacing, although runs OK as-is; dark label inside floor of case; height 34′

  • Antique Seth Thomas “Regulator No. 2” Model Clock

    Antique Seth Thomas

Catalog Description: C.1890, Seth Thomas, Regulator No. 2, in very good original condition, except for the repainted dial. The case has been wiped down with vinegar and linseed oil, and most of the old finish is still present; it is a mellow caramel color. Inside of case is clean as a whistle, and the inside label is still good (minor losses). The dial was refinished long ago, before brand stencils were available and the company name is lettered in along the bottom margin by hand; still, the large numerals were painted by a good artist who captured the essence very well (certainly not worth re-doing). The movement has been re-cabled and is in good running order. Height 36″

  • Antique Seth Thomas “Regulator No. 2” Model Clock

    Antique Seth Thomas

Catalog Description: C.1890, Seth Thomas Regulator No. 2 in poor to fair, as-found condition, with advertising dial. The oak case lost its lower door and now has a replacement from Merritts. The bob was lost from the pendulum and a smaller one has been substituted, also seconds hand missing (replacements for both items are available from Timesavers). The weight was lost and this is a very good home-made substitute that runs the clock just fine. The original dial has wear and flaking and the numerals have been dressed up with black crayon. A professional could save this dial and strengthen the original ad which reads: Greenleaf and Crosby Co, Jewelers, 25 E. Bay St., Jacksonville, also at St. Augustine and Palm Beach. Lots of potential here. Height 35″

  • Antique Seth Thomas “Regulator No. 2” Model Clock

    Antique Seth Thomas

Catalog Description: C.1890, Seth Thomas Clock Co., Regulator No. 2, in oak, 8-Day single weight wall time piece. Condition: clock retains a wonderful original dial, with some wear to the numerals. The case was refinished some years ago and has a mellow golden oak color; the workman refinished the case inside and out, even varnished the rear of the case. The extreme right and left corners of the bottom trim were repaired with a sliver of oak (looks ok), small bubble in veneer on bow-tie. Movement, hands, weight, pendulum and all case hardware are original. For someone who does not mind a newer finish, this is a clean example of a No. 2. For a full discourse on the No. 2, see Tran Ly’s 3rd edition of the Seth Thomas book, pages 276-78. In 2003 we were nearing $2500 on this model in original condition. Height 36 inches [91cm]

  • Antique Seth Thomas “Regulator No. 2” Model Clock

    Antique Seth Thomas

Catalog Description: C.1890, Seth Thomas Clock Co., “Regulator No. 2”, 8-day weight, wall timepiece. Condition: Mahogany veneered case is in nice condition with original finish, but with some veneer loss in the bow-tie area under the bezel, a small damaged area on the wooden bezel outside 10 o’clock and some small veneer loss on the top edge of the left side. Original painted dial is very clean with some minor wear to the numbers. Hands, pendulum and weight are original; pendulum has some pitting that will need polishing. One deficiency is that the minute shaft is broken off at the pin hole, and will need professional lengthening to retain the minute hand properly. Height 36.25 inches [92 cm]

  • Antique Seth Thomas “Regulator No. 2” Model Clock

    Antique Seth Thomas

Catalog Description: C.1890, Seth Thomas Clock Co., “Regulator No. 2”, 8-day weight driven timepiece in oak. Condition: Refinished case is in exceptionally nice condition. Original dial has been repainted. Hands and pendulum are original. The gold leafed “Regulator” name on the glass was added at some point in its history, factory specs do not call for this addition, but this was done so nicely you will probably leave it there. This case has the large #77A movement on an iron mount. The weight is original but the hook has been replaced. For additional details on this model, see Tran Duy Ly’s Seth Thomas book, 3rd Edition (2004), page 277 (this movement illustrated). Clean and running Height 36 inches
