  • Antique Seth Thomas “Hall Clock No. 28” Model Clock

    Antique Seth Thomas

Catalog Description: Seth Thomas Clock Co., Hall Clock No. 28 or No. 33. It is almost identical to both of these but more than likely was a number in between. There are no pictures available of over half of the 40 different model Hall Clocks they made. Then there were variations of some of the 40. The mahogany case is between 97 and 98″ high, about 23″ wide. A couple of the panels are slightly different and the finials are a little different. The movement is powered by three brass weights, chimes Westminster on four cup bells and strikes the hours on a large Cathedral Bell (gong). The dial is made of brass, silvered. Center section is polished, outer section dead finish, gilt ornamental lines. Dial is 15 inches high and 11-1/2″ wide, has a lithographed moon disc. We rarely see the Seth Thomas Hall Clocks come onthe market. Generally they are traded privately. As you may know, Seth Thomaswas the first company to produce a complete Hall Clock made in America. Herschedeand others made cases earlier, but bought their movements in Europe. Ly-SethThomas, or Seth Thomas Trade Catalogue, 1909-1910.
