Note in Tran Ly’s 2nd Seth Thomas book, page 150, he has a catalog ‘cut’ of a World, next to Jack Wyer’s “Globe” which is mis-identified as a “World” (note difference in width of door). This is a minor point as both clocks are of equal value, and this is the nicest Globe we’ve seen in a long while. 8-day time and strike on a gong. Minor flake in dial by 5. Height 32″ $500-700

Catalog Description: C.1915, Seth Thomas GLOBE, New Model, 15 Day, time, in very good original condition. This is a very nice school clock, and mis-pictured in Tran Ly’s 1996 book on Seth Thomas. Please refer to page 150 which shows on the right a photo identified as a World. It is rather a Globe, New Model. The World is 17 inches wide and the Globe is 16 inches wide and the door is only 12.2 inches long instead of 13 inches on the New Globe; yet both are the same overall length. These are subtle differences, but I have had a proper World hanging in my kitchen since 1984. The lot selling here is a great clock with “old oak” veneer in fine shape, original dial with only small flakes near 3+11, and a fabulous label. Height 32 inches

Catalog Description: C.1915 Seth Thomas Clock Co., “Globe” 8-day wall timepiece. Condition: Oak and oak veneered case in very nice condition with original grungy finish; minor scrape to finish around bezel latch. Original painted dial exceptionally nice for a Seth Thomas with some surface dirt. Hands and pendulum are original. Original gilding around lower door has minor wear; door has been relieved to cure a bind, on the inside with a knife; does not show with door closed. This exact Globe model is illustrated in the 1921-28 Seth Thomas catalog, and reproduced in Tran Duy Ly’s 3rd edition, page 322. Whether you prefer to call it a World or Globe, it is still a good original clock. From an estate in Western Mass. Height 32 inches

Catalog Description: C.1909, Seth Thomas Clock Co., “Globe”, 8-day time and strike octagon drop school clock, in generally good condition, the case refinished. The rosewood veneered case has some veneer loss on the back edge of the bottom, the front moldings on the bottom and on the upper portion of the left side behind the dial. There is some minor paint flaking on the dial and some areas on the outer edge that have been touched up (looks pretty good). The hands are original. The gilt molding on the bottom door has been gold painted. There is a partial label inside the case. Runs and strikes robustly. Height 31″ $325-$425

Catalog Description: C.1896, Seth Thomas Clock Co., “Globe”, 8-day, long drop octagon timepiece. Condition: Refinished rosewood veneered case in very nice condition with a very small veneer chip on the edge of one of the members that makeup the octagon and a couple of small chips on the back edge along the bottom. Original painted dial is exceptional for its age, and for a Seth Thomas. Original foil gilding is intact on the lower door molding. Hands and pendulum are original, but the pendulum has a large stress crack on the brass facing. Height 31 inches [78.7 cm]

Catalog Description: C.1860, Seth Thomas Clock Co., Plymouth Hollow, Conn. 30-hour column clock. The mahogany case has been very nicely refinished. The original dial has a little paint loss around the mounting tabs, and one scratch near 7. The movement is signed. The gilt columns show signs of wear and age. The tablet is fabulous with some minor flaking of the red border and on the bird’s breast. Label dark but legible. Height 25″

Catalog Description: C.1855, Seth Thomas, 30 Hour Gilt Column Mantel Clock in outstanding original condition. I have never seen this model in ash veneer, which this is and absolutely original (looks like golden oak). Original dial with a few minor flakes, and the gold columns have some flakes and dirt. Fantastic original tablet of two lions. Full Plymouth Hollow label with some stain and signed Plymouth Hollow 2-weight movement as well.
