  • Antique Seth Thomas “Orchid No. 1” Model Clock

    Antique Seth Thomas

Catalog Description: C.1902, Seth Thomas Clock Co., “Orchid No. 1” 15-day time and strike crystal regulator clock in very good original condition. The brass and glass case is in pretty nice condition with only minor scratches. The porcelain dial is perfect and the hands are original. The fancy embossed French style pendulum is very nice with a serial number that matches the number on the movement. The front beveled panel has a very tiny chip on the top left corner (difficult to see). The rest of the panels are fine. The movement is signed “R. Kaiser”, who designed movements for Seth Thomas Sons and Co., and this movement is identical to ones seen in the “Sons” clocks, although it carries a small “ST” logo; this movement was meant to compete with French imports. • Antique Seth Thomas “Parlor Calendar No. 1” Model Clock

    Antique Seth Thomas

Catalog Description: Seth Thomas, “Parlor Calendar No. 1″, C. 1884. Rosewood case is 33″ high, 17” wide, generally very nice condition from the bottom to the rounded top where some veneer is lost, and would be unusual if there weren’t some loss there. What is surprising is there is no loss on the base and bezels. The top corners of the case have had repairs and the case has been refinished. The dials were repainted without stripping off the old paint. It is fine and only noticeable upon close inspection. An excellent full label on the door is covered with plastic to preserve it. The two old weights look correct, pendulum is a replacement, and hands look correct. It takes a special key to open the door. There is a key with it, but not original to the clock. The signed lyre movement is 8 day, weight, gong strike, and it is running. This is a lot of clock for a low minimum. Ly-Seth Thomas, page 46, Millers “Calendar Clocks”, page 11.

  • Antique Seth Thomas “Parlor Calendar No. 3” Model Clock

    Antique Seth Thomas

Catalog Description: C.1910, Seth Thomas Clock Co., “Parlor Calendar No. 3”, 8-day, double dial calendar clock, striking The rosewood veneered case is in very nice condition, but stripped of its original finish, and needs finish applied. The lower dial has been repainted on the original pan. The upper dial appears to be original, however, interestingly it has stenciled spandrels, and was probably taken out of the “OG” dial bin. Since there are no extra holes and the dial is old, we feel it is original (spandrel area does not show when the door is closed). The hands, latch and case hardware are original as well. The calendar wheels have turned dark from age. Retains excellent inside label. Height 27 inches

  • Antique Seth Thomas “Parlor Calendar No. 5” Model Clock

    Antique Seth Thomas

Catalog Description: Seth Thomas calendar clock, “Parlor Calendar, No. 5″, C. 1886. Polished walnut veneer case is 20” high, and there are no problems with the case. In fact very nice. However, we need to send Bubba to the NAWCC Suitcase School. The top dial pan is original, no new holes, but the paper dial he put on is pretty sorry. Even worse is the new pan over the calendar mechanism, and that paper dial. Probably for $100 he could have made this a first rate shelf calendar clock. And, as anyone can see the red calendar hand is bad. At least he could have painted it black. You can get a correct replacement hand from Timesavers for about $4. There is a label behind the calendar movement. This is an 8 day movement, No. 4 3/8, striking a bell on the hours. Geneva locks are still in place. Ly-Seth Thomas #94.
