  • Antique Seth Thomas “Santa Fe” Model Clock

    Antique Seth Thomas

Catalog Description: Seth Thomas City Series, another one named for a western city, “Santa Fe”, C. 1886. This particular clock was made February 1889, according to the factory stamp. The walnut case make to look like it was constructed of logs, rough lumber, cactus, and leaves of brass. Many nails of brass, more for looks than holding anything together. The case is 22.5″ high, has been refinished, I can’t imagine that job. Excellent original glass, identical to the clock referenced below; full black label inside, old Seth Thomas pendulum. New paper dial on the old pan. 8 day strike and alarm. Strikes on the cathedral gong, alarms on a bell behind the gong stand. This has always been a tough one for the collectors to find. I may have had 5-6 over the years and no two were exactly alike. Ly-Seth Thomas #222.

  • Antique Seth Thomas “Umbria” Model Clock

    Antique Seth Thomas

Catalog Description: Seth Thomas wall clock, “Umbria”, ca 1909. 40.5 inches case was made of old oak and is retaining its original finish with the exception of routine polishing. The right hand corner of the lower door is darker than other parts and I suspect hung over a coal burning fireplace or a coal oil lamp. Not bad and can probably be cleaned with diligence. Top piece, finial, bottom trim, all original and intact. For a Seth Thomas dial this one is pretty good, the paint is tight and one can find a couple of spots where some judicious touch up was done. The movement is the big No. 40, 15 day, time only, running great. Someone has removed the Geneva stops so it would probably run 40 days on a full wind. The original brass beat scale and full label are inside on the bottom. It also has the original stick and bob, both in excellent condition. Ly-Seth Thomas No. 474.

  • Antique Seth Thomas “World” Model Clock

    Antique Seth Thomas

Catalog Description: Seth Thomas hanging clock, “World”, ca 1909. Another 15 day , time only wall clock, with a large double spring movement, Graham dead beat escapement, and it is running.32 inch mahogany case has a factory stamp on the back, “July 1910”. Brass beat scale and pendulum. 12 inch zinc dial with a seconds dial that has lost most of the paint. A little flaking on the time dial. You can probably live with the 12 inch dial flaking but not the seconds dial. You may as well paint both to have a first rate clock. You will need to polish the brass bezel, repaint or put new gold leaf on the strip around the lower glass, and the clock should approach a $800-$1000 value. Ly-Seth Thomas No.497.
