    Catalog Description: C.1875, Seth Thomas Clock Co., “Cincinnati”, 8-day time/strike city series shelf clock. Condition – Refinished walnut and walnut veneered case is in generally good condition, with restoration, some open grain showing on the door. Columns and finials now gold painted. Tablet is a replacement. Original painted dial has been in-painted in the flaked areas and attempted repairs to some of the numbers and minute ring. Strike bell is a replacement. Height 16 inches

    Catalog Description: C.1875 Seth Thomas Clock Co., “Cincinnati”, 8-day time/strike city series walnut shelf clock. Condition: Walnut veneered case is in very nice condition with an original finish. Minor veneer loss on the base and the two gilt finials are now broken off at tip. Original gilt turned columns are worn in places, but exceptional for their age.. Original dial has a little loss at the mounting screws and the winding holes. Nice tablet and hands are original, also a great label and original winding stops on the movement. Height 16 inches

    Catalog Description: C.1875 Seth Thomas Clock Co., “Cincinnati”, 8-day time/strike city series walnut shelf clock. Condition: Walnut veneered case is in good condition refinished long ago, and with minor veneer loss on the right side of the base and some minor loss to the ebonized areas. Original gold leaf columns are now overpainted with gold. Finials have been replaced (and not proper profile). Original dial has been inpainted in the flaked areas and needs professional help. Original tablet is flaking a little. See also lot 554. A little additional effort will improve this clock. Height 16 inches

  • Antique Seth Thomas “Chronometer Lever No. 5004” Model Clock

    Catalog Description: C.1875, Seth Thomas Sons & Co., New York, “Chronometer Lever No. 5004″, locomotive timepiece in good condition. The heavy cast brass case appears to have been nickel plated, but is now worn down to the brass base. The signed 4.5” porcelain dial is chipped around the fast/slow setting hole and around the seconds bit, and it has been painted in over the damage. The door glass has a crack that has propagated about 1.5 inches into the panel. The case houses a signed round plate movement of extra quality “Made in the best manner, with Steel Pinions & Chronometer Balance, Jeweled and are fitted up with finely tempered Hair Spring”. Would be $500 in excellent condition. Height 7.5 inches

    Catalog Description: C.1910, Seth Thomas “CHRONOMETER LEVER”, 8-day double spring timepiece in a mahogany case with hinged and locking bezel. Condition: overall very good original condition. The finish has some nicks and scrapes commensurate with the age of the clock; the “F-S” adjuster hand is lacking, no other visible shortcomings. The movement in this clock was the centerpiece of Naval contracts for both WWI and II, their catalog description includes: “detached eleven jeweled escapement, compensating balance wheel, Breguet hairspring, and cut steel pinions.” The original dial is excellent, orig hands, hinges, lock. Note left spring has been broken for a long time; runs OK on right spring, as advertised. For additional details, see Ly’s book on Seth Thomas, 3rd Ed, page 772, figure 2642. Bronze case with nickel plated bezel, hinged with provision for padlock on right side. Diameter 10.5″ This clock came out an old NY collection, and we have not seen this specific model before. Has well made upside down lever movement that winds at 12. $250-$450

Condition – Refinished mahogany case is in clean condition, some spots where the refinisher failed to remove all the old finish.. Silvered dial is tarnished a little with some scratches around in the winding holes. Hands are original. Someone has replaced the strike/silent lever with aluminum; works OK; nice tone on bells. It uses the Seth Thomas movement No.124, and it is running. Full label, movement and case are very clean. Nice silver dial with raised bronze numerals. 2 tone mahogany case is 10 inches high, has inlaid marquetry. Ly-Seth Thomas, page 220 for similar chime clocks.
