  • Antique Seth Thomas “Regulator No. 2” Model Clock

    Antique Seth Thomas

Catalog Description: Seth Thomas “Regulator No. 2”, Ca 1920. Mahogany veneer case is 36.5 inches high, which in itself dates the clock after 1913. There is no veneer on the bezel, it was stained to match the rest of the case. It is a little rough where the veneer was scraped off. The 8-day movement is not signed, has not been out of the case that I can tell. I would service and change the weight cord as soon as possible. It has been in storage for several years. The original zinc dial is very good for its age, slightly dirty and has a little flake or two. The original screws, in the original holes, lead me to believe the clock has not been played with. All the brass; weight, bob, beat scale, pulley, and dial ring are all in good condition. For some reason the crutch has been extended, perhaps to fit a new stick. The clock is running despite these deficiencies. Most of the black label remains in the base. The ride from Oregon in a U-Haul trailer left some skinned places, but they should clean up fine. Ly-Seth Thomas, 2004 Edition, pages 276-277.

  • Antique Seth Thomas “Regulator No. 2” Model Clock

    Antique Seth Thomas

Catalog Description: Seth Thomas “Regulator No. 2”, ca 1920. Mahogany veneer case is 36.5 inches high, overall in much better condition than No. 260A, the main difference is that the veneer is tight, no scrapes or patches. There are the usual nicks where Bubba bumped into door jams when carrying the clock. Everything looks to be original on this case, glasses, good zinc dial, weight, very nice damascened pendulum, beat scale, and the black label inside. The time only, 8-day movement has been in the case over 85 years, clean and running, and signed. There is a label and the dial is signed. This case showed signs of clocks sliding over each other on the ride from Oregon. I put some NuLife on the wood and it looks 100% better. There was no veneer damage. Very nice accessories, weight, pendulum, beat scale, pulley, and bezel ring. Ly-Seth Thomas, 2004 Edition, pages 276-277.

  • Antique Seth Thomas “Regulator No. 2” Model Clock

    Antique Seth Thomas

Catalog Description: Seth Thomas “Regulator No. 2”, ca 1911, and so stamped on the back of the case. This 36.5 inches case was made with old oak, retains the original finish and has all 5 little buttons on the base. We have not had, or seen, a better No. 2 case. There is an excellent brass beat scale, has a good amount of the paper label in the bottom, super old dial with original paint, (any paint flakes are not worth mentioning, normally a Seth Thomas dial this old has been repainted at least once), and a near perfect brass weight and pendulum bob. The 8 day, time only movement is correct for this model, and is running properly. Ly-Seth Thomas, 2004 Edition, pages 276- 277, lists current value $2000-$2200.

  • Antique Seth Thomas “Regulator No. 2” Model Clock

    Antique Seth Thomas

Catalog Description: Seth Thomas “Regulator No. 2”, ca 1875. This is the early or old style No. 2. This 34 inch walnut veneered clock has been restored, dial was repainted some time ago as there is now some slight flaking of the black paint. This glass is pictured in the catalogs on the Regulator No.1 models, which means it may not be original to this clock, but there is a slight chance it could be. It has one of the finest sliding partitions with a full label and paper beat scale that we have seen. As you know the label is glued to the sliding partition and will usually be pretty ragged or missing after 125 years of wear and tear. 8 day, time only, weight movement. The weight comes down behind the sliding partition. We see quite a few of the early No.2 models, but don’t see very many this nice. Ly-Seth Thomas, page 110.

  • Antique Seth Thomas “Regulator No. 2” Model Clock

    Antique Seth Thomas

Catalog Description: Seth Thomas “Regulator No. 2″, C. early 1900’s, between 1913-1922. Mahogany case is, or should be, 36.5” high. Note the very bottom trim piece is missing and a new design was proudly added by an aspiring craftsman. Thank goodness it isn’t securely attached. When I first saw this clock I thought it was pretty sorry, but after closer inspection I see a $1500-$2000 clock with proper attention. The original dial is great. Usually they have been repainted, or should be, by this time. The signed 8 day, weight movement, looks like it has never been out of the case, dirty, needs to be restrung. The mahogany is almost perfect, just very dead looking. Some good polish would completely change it. The weight and pendulum are also very nice. There is no black label in the base but I will give you one if you insist on having one. Ly-Seth Thomas #362.
