  • Antique Seth Thomas “Regulator No. 2” Model Clock

    Antique Seth Thomas

Catalog Description: Seth Thomas Clock Co. “Regulator No. 2”, ca 1930’s. Ly-Seth Thomas No. 367 gives the date as 1938, but actually this style base, Arabic dial, plain glass, came into production in 1929. The quartered oak, 36 inch case, has been refinished, stained and polished to appear more mahogany or cherry, thanoak. Old dial has had new holes drilled so that the screws would fit tight, and the opening around the seconds bit has been filled in to appear smaller, and touched up with a not so white paint. Brass is polished bright. Eventhough I have pointed out some deficiencies this is a beautiful clock, thewood grain is just outstanding. Anyone should be happy to hang this in theirhome. 8 day, time only movement No. 77A (80 beats per minute) is used in thismodel. There is a full label on the back of the case.

  • Antique Seth Thomas “Regulator No. 2” Model Clock

    Antique Seth Thomas

Catalog Description: Seth Thomas Clock Co. “Regulator No. 2”, ca 1909. Repair dates marked on the case and dial back to 1919. Everything about the clock is original and is generally in very good condition. Old “NCR-3460” New York Central Railroaddial, has the normal wear for Seth Thomas dials of this age, most of theold label remains in the base, good glasses, brass movement, bezel, pendulum, are all in untouched condition. The mahogany case has been refinished, now a much lighter shade. They put a coat of shellac or similar finish onthe wood which gives it a shine. I checked the movement and it is correctand like the movement in Ly-Seth Thomas No. 368, and the clock is identicalto No. 362. Old mahogany veneer case is 34 inches long, perhaps a chip or two, nothing worth writing about, movement secured to an iron bracket, 8 day timeonly, 80 beats to the minute, and running very good.

  • Antique Seth Thomas “Regulator No. 2” Model Clock

    Antique Seth Thomas

Catalog Description: Seth Thomas Clock Co. “Regulator No. 2” early model, ca between 1878-1880. Rosewood veneered case is 34 inches long, has only a moderate number of bruises, no chips to speak of. Both doors have hook latches. Someone tried to install a knob on the lower door and left a hole to be filled. Old glass lost some of backing, new black paint has been put on where feasible, overall a good looking early glass. It is shown in Ly-Seth Thomas on an early No. 1 Regulator, clock No. 359. The old dial has been repainted very professionally. One really nice feature is the full label on the original sliding partition. That is a real plus. The flat iron weight is also original for this model. Now what it all boils down to is, this is a great early regulator with only one fault, the small hole in the lower door, and it should be an easy fix. In case you wondered why I said Ca 1878-1880, this base was only in use until 1880, this glass was only used between 1878 and 1880, there were no seconds bit on this model until 1879.

  • Antique Seth Thomas “Regulator No. 2” Model Clock

    Antique Seth Thomas

Catalog Description: Seth Thomas “Regulator No. 2”, early model, ca 1878. This tablet was only used by Seth Thomas from 1878 to 1880, and seconds bit started in 1879, so that only leaves 1878 as the date this clock was made. For lack of other information I often use the date by the clock in the catalogs, but more times than not the catalog date is not the date when a clock was made, it is only the date it was pictured in the company’s trade booklet. These early Seth regulators were 34 inches high, walnut veneer cases, 8 day time only movement, large flat weight descending behind a sliding partition, full label on the partition. The clock runs real well, appears to be all original, a few chips of veneer missing on the rounded bezel, some gold paint loss but majority still intact. Has been rebacked to hold the remaining gold. Original paint on the old zinc dial is very good. Overall a near perfect example of a very early regulator. Ly-Seth Thomas No. 364.
