  • Antique Seth Thomas “Globe” Model Clock

    Antique Seth Thomas

Catalog Description: C.1915, Seth Thomas GLOBE, New Model, 15 Day, time, in very good original condition. This is a very nice school clock, and mis-pictured in Tran Ly’s 1996 book on Seth Thomas. Please refer to page 150 which shows on the right a photo identified as a World. It is rather a Globe, New Model. The World is 17 inches wide and the Globe is 16 inches wide and the door is only 12.2 inches long instead of 13 inches on the New Globe; yet both are the same overall length. These are subtle differences, but I have had a proper World hanging in my kitchen since 1984. The lot selling here is a great clock with “old oak” veneer in fine shape, original dial with only small flakes near 3+11, and a fabulous label. Height 32 inches

  • Antique Seth Thomas “Lobby 18 Inch” Model Clock

    Antique Seth Thomas

Catalog Description: Seth Thomas “18 Inch Lobby”, C. 1909, or a slight variation thereof. The middle section is all original, good wood work on the front door. The pendulum viewing window should be a round bullseye piece of wood, but an inquiring mind decided to remove it. The 15 day time only movement is signed and original to this case. It is stamped “24” on the right side. This is a No. 40 movement but why it is stamped 24 escapes me. Brass pendulum bob, stick, and beat scale are original. The 18″ zinc dial has been expertly repainted. Moving on to the top and base, both have been remade, and expertly done, stained to match the case body, attached and fitted very well. Why they didn’t attempt to make it look like the catalog pictures is beyond me. The mahogany case is a tad over 36″ high, a fine looking clock, just not all original. Ly-Seth Thomas #384.

Catalog Description: C.1886, Seth Thomas, “MARCY”, in oak, 8-day, quarter strike on 2 bells, and in good condition with original decaying finish, and some small veneer repairs. This clock has a lot of potential. The wooden gong base is still there, but the gong has been replaced with a bell. (this is a standard nickel plated City series gong if you have one). The original dial has some fading and wear on the numbers, also some minor paint loss around the outer edge, and amateur touch up on couple of numerals. The hands and pendulum are original. The beat scale has lost its silver wash and will need some attention. Original label in case bottom with some losses, but fully legible. Overall a decent item that will respond to restoration.
