They don’t get any plainer or less expensive than this one. It is only 9.5″ high, has 4 very nice beveled glasses, a very good looking imitation mercury pendulum, an excellent signed porcelain dial, great sounding cathedral gong, original hands, and running up a storm. Condition: overall excellent, the case refinished some time ago and with nice caramel color. The original dial is in amazingly good condition, some numerals carefully strengthened. We took off the dial expecting to find it marked 86A (what it is) but instead it is marked simply 18 (for 18 inch dial). In any case it is the original 15 day movement; it will need cleaning; it has been recently oiled without cleaning and is running OK. We moved the dial support board to get a better foto of the movement. For details on this clock, see Tran Ly’s 3rd edition Seth Thomas book, page 340, figure 1090. Height 25 inches

There are some minor nicks and scrapes to the case and top returns have separated a little in time. However, it retains original dial in SUPER condition, original hands, pend and case hardware as well. The oak is an attractive light caramel color and the original finish is nice with a few blemishes. This model has fancy embossed/carved panels on the sides. Movement is clean, complete and sound. Condition: This clock is in very good original condition, with only minor scrapes and minor loss of nails on the front. This clock could remind the hotel clerk for up to 84 rooms. There are a couple of dozen brass tokens with the room number stamped in. The 12 hour day is marked every fifteen minutes in the lower section. The clerk puts the room token on the desired time for that room. When that time arrives he can give the tokes to a bell man for wake up calls. In the foto, room 59 token is on 7:30 minder post. This clock allegedly came from NH Lancaster House, and a newspaper clipping supporting that idea is included with the clock. Small crack in glass in lower section. Height 37 inches

Catalog Description: C.1880, Seth Thomas Clock Co., “10 Inch Lever”, in good condition, with restorations. The mahogany veneer case was refinished maybe 50 years ago and has a nice mellow color. There are some small chips and cracks in the veneer. The original dial was painted, and this one has a brown paper over-paste, including the seconds bit with 1878 patent info. This clock uses a double spring 8-day lever movement. The BEST part of this clock is the superb rear label that is worthy of framing. It is complete with Hotckiss tower clock info, and an over-stamp with case patent info dated April 16, 1878. Height 13 inches

This nickel plated brass example is in pretty nice condition with some minor dings and scratches from use. The bezel snaps onto the case and is held with safety chains when detached; note you must first put the top of the bezel over one stationery retainer. A thumbscrew below 6 releases the lower latch and allows the bezel to be removed or attached. Most importantly, the movement winds on the side of the case, to the right of 3. Assuming it was running on time, there was no need to remove the bezel as the winding key fits externally. The hands are original. The silvered dial has some minor scratches. Height 7.25 inches

An unusual amount of mechanical apparatus squeezed inside. Mahogany cabinet case has just enough woodwork to be very attractive. The silver dial with painted numerals is very nice. Usually dials of this type tend to be worn pretty badly. Beveled and bowed glass in the brass sash. The 8 day signed Seth Thomas movement is marked “89AE”, the chime movement is marked “90”. It is running and chiming but service is recommended. For whatever reason Sonora Bell Chime clocks are now in great demand. Seth Thomas No. 719.
