Catalog Description: Seth Thomas and Sons, “Madonna and Child”, ca 1876. These early Seth Thomas and Sons clocks used French type movements. This one is typical French, 8 day, round, bell strike, outside count wheel. It is signed by Seth Thomas. When making this series of clocks they certainly put their money in the movement, dial, bezel, and beveled glass, which I supposeis more important than the cast metal case. This case is 16 inches high and18 inches wide. Most all the cases were white metal, very few werebronzes. The finish they used on all the models was not good, as most allhave to be repainted, or have expensive bronze or gold gilt put on. Thereis a lot of detail to this clock, it is original, complete, and had a newfinish put on several years ago. For the price this is certainly a lot ofclock. Ly-American, Volume 2, No. 851.

Catalog Description: C.1939, Seth Thomas, Mark I Deck Clock, with black dial, serial No. 1076. Condition: this pre-war clock is well made and has the uncommon brass plated stainless steel case. The once luminous hands and numerals are now discolored, and no longer glow. The movement is clean and in running order. Great clock for the military horologist. Catalog Description: C.1910, Seth Thomas Clock Co., “Navy Lever” 30-hour marine timepiece in very good original condition. This nickel plated brass example is in pretty nice condition with some minor dings and scratches from use. The bezel snaps onto the case and is held with safety chains when detached; note you must first put the top of the bezel over one stationery retainer. A thumbscrew below 6 releases the lower latch and allows the bezel to be removed or attached. Most importantly, the movement winds on the side of the case, to the right of 3. Assuming it was running on time, there was no need to remove the bezel as the winding key fits externally. The hands are original. The silvered dial has some minor scratches. Height 7.25 inches

Catalog Description: C.1875, Seth Thomas Clock Co., “No. 1 Extra”, 8-day regulator timepiece, with restorations. The case has been reveneered in walnut with a cherry stain (would have been rosewood originally). It is very difficult to veneer these curved surfaces and as a result it is a bit uneven and is starting to lift in some areas. The dial has been professionally repainted. The hands are original. Both glasses are original, as are the gilt pendulum rod and pendulum There is label inside the case, with some tears and losses, but legible; paper beat scale is intact. It is difficult to estimate this clock; if it had the original veneer in good shape, it would be worth around 4000 dollars. From 10 feet away it looks great. Height 42 inches

Catalog Description: C.1874, Seth Thomas and Sons, “No. 8023”, 14-day time/strike Figural mantel clock Condition: Cast figural case is in generally good condition, now brushed over with gold paint. Missing pieces include 2 stylized leaves held in place right and left base by the turned “finial”, and Diana is missing her bow. Also front foot is bent inward. Original porcelain dial is chipped around the winding arbors. The minute hand is a replacement. Movement is signed. The strike bell and pendulum are replacements. Catalog Description: C.1863, Seth Thomas Clock Co., “Octagon Top” 30-hour time/strike shelf clock. The rosewood veneered case is in very nice condition with a couple of minor veneer chips and a small repair on the lower left corner of the base (brown paint over small veneer chip). The finish is otherwise original. Both glasses and dial are original. The dial has some paint loss but is in remarkably good condition for a Seth Thomas dial. The movement is signed and the label is good with about 15% loss lower left and some water stain. Another minor point is the proper replacement set of “ST” hands. Overall a good clock, complete and sound. Height 14 inches

Catalog Description: C.1880, Seth Thomas Clock Co., “Octagon Top A”, 30-hour mahogany cottage timepiece. Condition: Refinished mahogany case in good condition, some minor veneer chips on the base. Usually these dials are painted, however this one is paper over zinc [with some stain and wear]. “ST” hands are from a larger model and are a bit too long; tablet is original and nice. Catalog Description: C.1875, Seth Thomas “Office Calendar No. 1” in generally good condition, with restoration. Both dials have been repainted; roller covers are original, and tho a bit dark, are quite legible. The single weight movement is complete and sound, and the calendar mechanism is advancing OK. Inside label is lifting and one corner is absent, but it is still fully legible. The rosewood veneer case is in good condition, with a number of chips that have been filled in with stain, and other loose bits. Note the small areas of loss are outside the bezels which are firm and intact with no loss. Overall it is above average for what usually turns up on this model, and very pleasant in appearance. When in excellent condition, these have been fetching 6000 dollars. Height 40 inches

Catalog Description: C.1863, Seth Thomas Clock Co., “Office Calendar No. 3”, 8-day double dial calendar. This timepiece is usually referred to as the “Peanut”. The rosewood veneered case is nice condition with what looks like a newer layer of shellac over the old finish. There is small stress crack on the lower edge of the front door. The original painted upper dial is very nice with some minor paint loss around the mounting screws, winding arbors and a couple of small chips. The hands are original. The lower dial has darkened with age and has paint loss around the mounting screws and one small area on the edge. Someone has added a date of 195? and F.R.R. to the dial. There is some damage in this date area. The tail to the calendar hand was broken off and is missing. There has been a repair to the case in the area of the top door hinge. Has a good black/gold label inside door. Height 24 inches
