This nickel plated brass example is in pretty nice condition with some minor dings and scratches from use. The bezel snaps onto the case and is held with safety chains when detached; note you must first put the top of the bezel over one stationery retainer. A thumbscrew below 6 releases the lower latch and allows the bezel to be removed or attached. Most importantly, the movement winds on the side of the case, to the right of 3. Assuming it was running on time, there was no need to remove the bezel as the winding key fits externally. The hands are original. The silvered dial has some minor scratches. Height 7.25 inches

This is an ebonized case with silver plated door and feet; and we have never seen this model before, nor is it listed in any catalogs (we certify that it is an all original Seth Thomas). There is some minor roughness on the edges to the ebonized finished. The door is tarnished and the feet show some silver loss. The silvered dial is good with some minor scratches around the winding holes, dial signed with the name of the retailer: F. A. KNOWLTON, Inc, Jeweler, Worcester. The hands are original, and there is a label on the bottom of the case. No.120, 8-day movement, strikes on gong. Something odd and uncommon for the Seth Thomas collector. Height 10.75Ó $200-$250

As I have mentioned before V.P. means Visible Pendulum. This is by far the nicest of this model I have ever had, and I have had 2 dozen or more. I will go out on a limb and call it perfect, even considering it is 124 years old. Nickel accessories include dial rings, bell, and pendulum. This model, the New Orleans, and the Fashion No. 3 are the only models pictured in any catalog with the “star and fleur de lys” pendulum. Black label inside on the base of this 16 inch walnut case. 8 day movement, bell strike, and running. Ly-Seth Thomas No. 210.

8 day, strikes a nickel bell. Good ST nickel pendulum with bronze attachment that says, “STC Co”. This clock has an added feature that ST overlooked in the design process; a third hole was drilled in the dial board so you can see to hook the pendulum. What an innovation. The label is all but worn from the base.16 inch walnut veneer case, probably never cleaned, very good veneer except a couple of small slivers off the base. Ly-Seth Thomas No.210.

The simple style case was poplar at that time. It was made of dark walnut with great graining. This case is all original, not cleaned or refinished, and has nickel accessories. Black label inside, nickel bell, dial rings, and pendulum. We “experts” say that the only Seth Thomas clocks with a star pendulum were the Nashville, New Orleans, and Fashion No. 3. We say that because those three were the only ones pictured in the trade catalogs with a star pendulum. This clock has the A movement, number “4 7/8”, 8 day, striking the bell on each hour. Notably, the grommet on the right side is missing, resulting in minor chipping around the winding arbor on the porcelain dial. This exceptional Seth Thomas “Naples” clock is identified as No. 205 in the Seth Thomas catalog.

in excellent condition. This clock has been in one small Massachusetts collection for the last 25 years. The oak case was professionally refinished and has a nice soft sheen. The movement has been cleaned and is running and striking fine. The catalog drawing of this clock does not do it justice, as the detail in the carving is fine. There are ever so minor imperfections on the base, but the clock is still overall excellent. Height 12″

Another of the City Series made by Seth, this is one I had never seen before. I collected City Series for several years but never found one. This is quite a clock. Intricate carvings top and bottom. The 8 day movement is the round French style with outside count wheel, signed by ST, and numbered 3 15/16. Strikes a Cathedral Bell on the half hours. Nice beveled glass, French Sash. 12 inch hand carved case is made of dark mahogany. One piece porcelain dial is signed by Seth Thomas. The grommet on the right side is missing, therefore the porcelain paid the price as it is chipped around the winding arbor, otherwise very good.Ly-Seth Thomas No. 205.

Not sure of the date this clock was made for they made them from 1884 thru the 1930’s. This is a brass cased clock, most I have seen were nickel plated. It is 10.5″ high, good case, slightly smoky, hinged bezel, bell on the base attached to a wood support that is an extension of the clock back. Paper label is 50-75 percent intact. Good silver dial is signed and has three correct hands. It does not want to run for me even though this collectors clocks all were running when we acquired them. Since I could not get it running I do not know if it has a one day or eight day movement. Ly-Seth Thomas, pages 755-758.

A very collectable ships bell, particularly if complete with full label on the back. This one has no label. 10.5″ nickel plated case. Not shining, but dull, metal undercoat showing in a few small places. I wound it and it took off running and strikes the bell with two hammers, typical ships bell strike. Quarter-chiming mantel clock with Westminster melody.

Someone said that the sweetest chimes on any clocks in the world are those produced during the 19th Century by the Seth Thomas Clock Company. Their quarter-chiming clocks play several different melodies including this, the best known- Westminster Chimes. The name derives from the chiming pattern in the tower of Westminster Abbey in London home of the venerable “Big Ben”. Played on patented tuned rods, this clock fills the room with its pleasant tones every fifteen minutes around the clock. This is their model No. 59 made around 1922 and including the ST movement No. 89 with chime mechanism No. 119A (for those who care about the stats). For the rest of us, the lovely chimes on this clock will calm and sooth us even after a hectic, pressure-filled day. The Mahogany case retains its original finish and the silvered convex dial is in excellent condition. The movement was recently serviced, oiled and adjusted for good running condition.
