Many businesses used this model for advertising purposes, like this clock that has a painted silver ad for “Taylor’s Jewelers”. The “Old Oak” case is about 20 inches long, and generally in good condition with only minor nicks expected on a clock this old. Everything is original and in good working order.A regular manicure might have prevented Bubba from scratching the dial between the 1 and 2. This model was made in several case and dial sizes, this one with a 9 inches dial. 8 day, time only movement, is running properly. Ly-Seth Thomas, vol. 3, No. 1143.

8 day, time only, movement. Note this clock winds at 6 and No. 371 winds at 5. “Old Oak” case is roughly 20 inches long, dial is 9 inches. The case and dial are near perfect. Apparently a plaque or advertising of some sort was tacked to the drop portion of the case, as some tiny holes are evident. Easily corrected if they bother you. 8 day, time only movement, all in excellent condition. Same reference as above.

Condition: the case has been attractively refinished, movement seems to be running fine. This clock sold new in 1921 for $14.50. Some screws have been replaced during servicing of the chime movement, and the silvered brass dial exhibits minor scratches and oxidation. This rod version is slightly less expensive than the bell version, standing at approximately 13.3 inches in height.

Another variant of the No. 61 clock, also from 1921, features an 8-day, 4-rod Westminster chime mechanism and a large mahogany case with an inlaid round top. Some case screws were replaced when chime movement was serviced. This rod version still has the same 2 separate movements as the bell version, but was slightly cheaper. Condition: overall very good original condition. The finish has some nicks and scrapes commensurate with the age of the clock; the “F-S” adjuster hand is lacking, no other visible shortcomings. The movement in this clock was the centerpiece of Naval contracts for both WWI and II, their catalog description includes: “detached eleven jeweled escapement, compensating balance wheel, Breguet hairspring, and cut steel pinions.” The original dial is excellent, orig hands, hinges, lock. This is an 8 day time and calendar movement but there are no calendar wheels on the movement. Collectors tell me you can get the calendar parts from Timesavers or other parts houses. The painted metal dial is original, and has slight wear and grime. This is a mahogany case that is 23″ high, complete and original. The hands, small glass, and brass pendulum are all correct. The large glass is not original. The 8 day movement is signed, running, and still has the Geneva stops. Inside is a complete paper label. Ly-Seth Thomas No. 246.

Condition: Cast metal base with a sheet steel case above is in nice condition with gunmetal gray finish. Original dial with the gold tone outer ring has some wear. Dial center area has some tarnish. Hands are original. Movement is signed. Overall an excellent example of this model. This clock sold new in 1908 for $8.50. Ht 10.25″ [26 cm]
