Case is 11.5″ high, originally finished in rich gold, needs to be cleaned and polished. Four full columns on the corners with vertical grooves, fancy capitals and bases. Front and back doors also with grooves to match the columns. One piece porcelain dial decorated with a garland of flowers, in very nice condition and retains the correct hands and imitation mercury pendulum. Four heavily beveled glasses, all very good. Seth Thomas round 8 day movement, signed, striking a hanging gong, half hours and hours. A lot of potential for a small minimum bid. Ly-Seth Thomas #325.

Condition: the oak case has been overcoated with shellac for some time, and that has turned dark reddish-brown, so that in the foto it looks more like mahogany. All of the small carved trimmings on the case are intact. Minor nicks and scrapes. The dial has some scratches and minor oxidation. With original weights, pendulum, bells, glass and so on; beveled glass is good in both top door and trunk door. For reference, see Ly’s 2004 Seth Thomas book, page 414. Ly’s current value is 16,000 and we have seen these bring over 10,000 at auction. Height 98 inches

This poplar metal clock has a rich gold finish that is practically all still intact and pretty bright not to have been cleaned at all. The case is 14 inches tall, original back door and American sash with beveled glass. The hinge is being held with a finishing nail which works fine and not noticeable but you may want to change. Very nice one piece porcelain dial, painted garland of flowers, signed, Arabic numerals marked boldly, minute marked on an outside ring. 8 day movement is their round plate, No. 3 15/16, signed by ST, striking a standing gong, running with a correct pendulum. Seth Thomas alarm clock, “Long Alarm” ca 1910.

Bought and distributed by a New York company as an advertising piece. Inscribed on the dial is, “Geo. W. Welsh’s Son., New York”, plus the street address. Touted as a “long alarm” it is that. It will alarm for about 15 minutes with one winding. It is not a sound you want to listen to for 15 minutes. One day movement, seconds dial and alarm dial, wind and set in back, alarm switch in front. Metal case is 9 inches high, finished in an oxidized copper finish. Looks nice and original but typical of this clock the round metal on top tends to crack and split, no doubt from heat and cold. This is a very nice example of Seth’s top of the line alarm clocks. the ornate case is in very nice original condition with no losses or damage. The signed white enamel dial has chips around a winding hole, and the thick beveled glass is chipped at the top.
