The jeweled lever movement is in running order and striking properly, but would benefit from service. The case is a heavy cast brass model. Some one from Natick, Mass, wrote his name (Bragdon) on the rear with a vibro tool. With original dial and hands. Outer dia = 8.75 inches

    Excellent 15″ round mahogany case, no frills or ruffles, just plain Jane but exceptionally nice. Brass bezel with a flat glass, 12″ painted dial is signed, and the hands are original. On the dial is a seconds dial and above that a slow/fast adjuster. The dial has some small scratches but basically it is a very nice dial. Double wind, time only lever movement should run 8 days. I wound it but it did not kick over. I did not have time to remove the dial and put a drop of oil on the movement. Ly-Seth Thomas No. 1193.

    8 day, strikes a cathedral gong on hours and brass bell on the half hours. Porcelain dial and the beveled glass in the brass bezel, really sets this clock apart from others. The bezel looks like it is made of twisted vines. Excellent overall, the only negative is a missing back door latch. Ly-Seth Thomas No.1071.

    Mahogany case with gold plated metal trimmings, stands 11.5″ high. It has an excellent porcelain dial, signed by Seth Thomas, nice metal sash with flat glass. 8 day movement No. 89C strikes hours on a Cathedral gong and half hours on a brass bell. Pendulum is correct, there are 4 metal feet and a full back door. The clock is one of a series of clocks, all very similar in looks, all about the same size, most with columns on each side, that were named for small cities in Mass., & Conn. Mr. Ly did not include this clock in the City Series section of his Seth Thomas book, but it should have been. Check the City Series clocks, Salem, Sterling, and Clinton, all cities in Mass. just like Berkeley, and all are very similar clocks. Ly-Seth Thomas #1071.

    Condition: Mahogany case in generally good, as found condition with a crazed original finish, but with a couple of marks where white paint was dropped on the corner and wiped off leaving a light mark, and a small dry split in the front of the case. Original porcelain dial has a small chip near 6 that could be filled in; otherwise OK. Hands are original. Movement strikes the hour on a gong and the half hour on a bell. Complete with all metal trimmings, a popular model. Reliable No. 89-C movement. Ht 11.5″ [29.2 cm]

    The imitation rosewood adamantine case is pretty nice with only some very minor chips on the back edges of the base, a little roughness on the front corners of the base, a chip on the back edge of the top and tiny chip on the rigHeight side of the top edge. (these faults are only noticeable on close inspection). The porcelain dial has a very small chip on the time-side winding hole. The hands are original. Both movements have been recently cleaned and the clock is running and chiming. Height 13.75Ó $300-$500

    in generally good original condition, clean and running well, chiming Westminster tune on 4 cupped bells. The minor hurt on this clock is that someone dropped a sharp object on the top in several places and the celluloid has been pierced and needs some restoration. From the front it still looks OK; also there is a small crack in the crystal which might travel. Note the difference between the No.1 and the special amount to (no columns on the special and no incising). This clock sold for $25 in 1915. Height 13″

    This clock is in very good original condition, brass never cleaned or polished, but not bad as it is. There are some very minor nicks on the corners of the base. One piece porcelain dial is signed, “Seth Thomas” and “Sonora Chimes”. 8 day Seth Thomas movement No. 89M, and Sonora movement No. 90, with 4 bells. Correct back door with a label. Case is finished in Adamatine mahogany, rusty red with black swirls. 4 nice brass feet, gold gilt metal columns. Large heavy case is 13.5″ high, 15″ wide. Way above average overall condition.     Jan 2021 – 74 Antique American Clocks Seth Thomas “Sonora Chime Clock No. 264”, ca. 1914. Eight bells and nine hammers, playing Whittington and Westminster chimes, or alternating the hours with both. A 14-inch mahogany case with blond wood inlay in front and a silvered dial behind a convex, beveled glass; some wear to the dial. Running and chiming on cue. I cannot find that Horton’s has sold an 8-bell ST clock in the last eight years. Schmitt’s sold one (not this model) in 2017 for $3600. are a couple of sales of ST 8-bells on LiveAuctioneers in 2018 for $2200 and $3000. These guys are not common. course, it sounds great. $1200-$2400.
